2011 Dining plan restaurant options

I am approximately 7 days away from my 180 day reservation window for my 2/27-3/4/11 trip. Obviously, I hope to make my reservations for the entire trip once that window opens up and we do have the free dining for the duration of our stay. Here is my concern: several restaurants I want to book are not currently listed as participants of the 2011 Disney Dining Plan. For example, both San Angel and Teppan Edo participated in the 2010 dining plan, but are not listed on the 2011 dining plan list.

I have heard that more restaurants will sign on before the end of the year. So, should I go ahead and try to book those restaurants that I want in the hopes that they will be added to the dining plan list? Or would you play it safe and only book restaurants that are guaranteed to participate next year?

This happens to us every year. If it's been part of the plan in the past, you can safely assume it will probably be in it again. Good luck with your booking!

Don't worry about either restaurant. If San Angel or Teppan Edo are unavailable for ADR's, try calling when you reach your resort room - sometimes there are last minute cancellations and you will get in. Also, when you go to EPCOT, go to each place that day and ask about availablility. Sometimes they will let you know a slower time to come back and they will walk you in. You might not eat at the time you want, but you will get to eat at the place you wanted to.:p
Also, there are food stands outside of these eateries that have basically the same thing you will eat inside for less. Good Luck!

Go ahead and book the restaurants because there is a 99% chance that they will be included in the plan like they have been in all the previous years. Disney publishes the first run of the list prior to all the contracts being finalized for the next year, so you see a bunch of exclusions. As those contracts are finalized, they are added.

I noticed that several restaurants (quick service & table service) weren't listed for 2011 too. I called Disney Dining and spoke with an awesome cast member and was told that alot of the restaurants won't show til later but she did not know of any specific restaurants that would be deleted from the dining plan! I'd go ahead with my ressies when you reach the 180 day mark!

Thanks for the input everyone. I think I will go ahead and make ressies for the restaurants that I want and just keep my fingers crossed that they hop on board the dining plan. I guess if this is the worst decision of my Disney planning then I'm a pretty lucky gal. :)

I know that they are excluded from the brochure. However, if you go online to make a reservation and check the box that says "Only show restaurants on the dining plan," when you try to make an ADR for San Angel Inn for 2011, it will return with an ADR time for this restaurant. I suspect the same is also true for Teppan Edo. So, they probably are now on the plan. If you call, I'm sure they can tell you for sure.
