I can't imagine a great many of us regulars heading to the parks this weekend with all of the holiday crowds.
Lol...Spoke to soon. I'll go into work a little early today so I can walk around the park and get some pictures.

I was at Blizzard Beach and Animal Kingdom yesterday, and it wasn't too bad.

Before and After...

I'm sorry but I can't see the difference :hammer: ... Maybe I have been gone too long. Does anyone have a before and after picture?

Thanks,

Jay

The first thing I noticed was the miniture statues are gone that were on the corner posts of the interior of the flower beds. The trees are definately shorter and not as many.

The planters have been lowered to ground level. Before, the planeters were several feet off the ground. This not only obstructed the view of the castle stage, it also created somewhat of a safety hazard. For anyone who's seen a show at the castle from the hub, you have had to experience security guards/CM's asking kids (and sometimes adults) to get down from inside the planters who had climbed up and into them to try and get a better view.

Also, the curb around the hub and the surronding "road" is gone. It is now all flat which should help prevent tripping/loosing one's balance in the crowds after the castle show or Wishes ends and the mass of people begin to move.

This was just the first phase. Phase two of curb removal will start shortly. Yes, CURB REMOVAL was the main reason for this rehab to happen. You remove the curbs... You instantly have wider walkways. That is the main reason. The curbs are hard for strollers to navigate, and there is really no reason for them in the first place.

From what I've heard... (and this is from various people, not just one) all of Main Street U.S.A. will have the curbs removed. It's already been done in Disney's other MK-based layout parks. Expect it to continue up through April.

I was just at Disneyland Paris and the curbs have not been removed on Main Street or the hub. As far as I know only Tokyo Disneyland has a fake curb painted onto the street, so the whole of World Bazar is on 1 level.

Disneyland still has them up also. From what I understand it is just the hub at MK for the new show lay out. I would not be too happy if this were to happen here at DL because our Main St. and hub are much smaller then MKs'.

I've been told that the MK's Main Street curbs aren't going anywhere. As someone else has pointed out, only Tokyo Disneyland doesn't have curbs (of course, they do have a glass roof). Removing the curbs on Main Street would take much longer than April; most of the buildings have overhangs with columns or posts that are bolted into the curb. Disney would have to replace not only the curb, but also a significant part of the structure for each of the buildings.

And yes, DL and DLP still have curbs.

I think the hub is looking better, I remember when I was there last and my girlfreind and I were watching the parade and the kids in the planters Disney security raising a riot and tripping and falling on the curbs myself , I must add much to my girlfreinds enjoyment and the widening of the area aound the partners statue will make traffic flow much better through that area.

Mouse Planet is reporting the little bronze statues that surround the Partners statue will eventually return but they don't know when.

If not... I get dibs on Pluto when it goes on ebay!

Some of the statues were looking pretty rough.....unlike the partners statue....the little statues get touched, sat on, spilled on, and whatnot......I am sure they could use a nice restoration.

Good Lord I hope so, I convinced my wife not to spend our time taking a photo of each individual one on the last trip, promissing we would get around to it......I would hate to have to go back in December and take the brunt of the storm when they are not there.....
