1st visit to WDW when was yours & were you celebrating anything specific?

I think it was 1986, one day in the Magic Kingdom. I was six years old at the time. My aunt and uncle took us on a spur-of-the-moment trip-no special reason. I remember that they had to let my my aunt and mother out of the stretching rooms in the Haunted Mansion because my little brother decided he wanted out RIGHT NOW.
I also remember that I had my eyes covered on almost everything except IASW! My earliest memories of attractions like SW (it wasn't called "Scary Adventures" then), Toad, and POTC are peeks between my fingers. In fact, the only time I opened my eyes on POTC (after the skeletons seriously scared me) I was greeted by a view of an extremely hairy leg and promptly covered my eyes again. My mother and I still laugh about that.
I DO have some vivid memories of Mission to Mars and If You Had Wings from that trip. I believe it was If You Could Fly or Delta Dreamflight the next time we visited...I'm not sure which. I WISH that I had gone on 20K while it was still in existence. I'm not sure why we didn't.
Thankfully, I have been back to "my real home" multiple times since then, as a child, a preteen, a teenager, and as an adult. My family didn't take us to Epcot on our first two trips, as they didn't think there was "anything for kids there." I HATE that I never got to see World of Motion.
Am looking forward to surprising my stepdaughters on Christmas morning with some mouse ears and tickets, and promptly loading them into the car for our first trip to the world together...and the first trip that I will do a trip report for! I can't WAIT. :xmas:

My first trip was in 1990 for our honeymoon. DW had been once when she was younger. Went back in 2007 with DW and 4 kids. Trying to figure out if we can go back in 2012.

First trip was in 1993 with my wife at 23 Y/O for 8 nights at CBR. When I was a kid growing up we did not have much money, so we never were able to travel there for vacation from upstate NY. It was talked about many times, but something always stopped us from going.

My first trip was December 1998, with my youngest son who had just turned 13. We weren't celebrating anything in particular, but in hind-sight, I guess we celebrated being able to attend a couple of classes at the Disney Institute before it closed.

I was three and my brother was two back in '71. I don't think we were celebrating anything just being on one of our very few family vacations. I don't remember anything except riding on Dumbo. Unfortunately I didn't go back until my senior trip in high school. :)

The first time I went where I remember it was 1980 and I was 14. I pouted the whole time because my very first boyfriend wasn't allowed to go so he was back home in Coral Springs, FL without me. But we ended up having a good time. The next time I went was for grad night 1985. I did go to Disneyland when I was a tot but I don't remember it.

We had seen it being built for the last couple of years, so our parents brought us.

November 1988 for me. It wasn't a specific celebration, just everyone's first trip. I was 7 and my sister was 3...we left the day after Thanksgiving. I love looking back at our home movies and pictures from that first trip. To this day, I still remember watching Minnie's surprise birthday party show and dancing with my sister to the music.

We took a long break from Disney after that, with our next time being 96 for the anniversary and dreaded cake castle. I've visited with friends on Senior Week, took my first couples vacation there, got engaged and honeymooned there....pretty much celebrated all my major life events there. Can't wait to one day take my kids there.

I am not quite sure of the year. I was not yet in High School so it had to be pre 1984. Maybe it was the summer of 1984.

Anyway, I was +/- 14 at the time.

It was just a Florida vacation. We stayed in a rental townhouse in Kissimiee. We went to WDW, Sea World, Cape Canaveral, and Cocoa Beach. I think we did a day at EPCOT and a day at Magic Kingdom.

No special occassion unless you call Peoples Airlines having dirt cheap fares a special event. If I recall, that is what prompted the trip.

1973, took a bus from Miami to WDW with my Mom. Only spent 1 day but swore I would be back. Now I am a DVC owner (original OKW owner) and have gone back 2 or 3 times a year in the past 15 years.

1986 was the trip I really remember. I might have gone one other time prior, but I was a little too young to remember. But I remember visiting WDW in '86...mostly because of EPCOT. It was just a day trip since we lived in Orlando at the time.

I have celebrated major life events like an engagement, honeymoon, and recently an anniversary :D Look forward to celebrating even more milestones!

February 1972 when I was -- let me do the math  -- nine years old. We took a family trip with the truck camper to visit family and go to the Daytona 500. Our '70s trips surrounded the Daytona race, a week on either side. We also stopped at Silver Springs gator & snake farm (not a place I would ever return to), Marine Land, Busch Gardens, and to see various relatives that I had no idea who they were. We spent exactly one day at the MK. No special celebrations, unless you want to count getting out of central NY winter for two weeks:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:
Our trip in 1980 saw the addition of Wet 'N Wild water park to the line up of stops along the way.

Honeymoon October 1980,3 days then went to Daytona. There was only MK and River Country and a little Downtown Disney. Used up all our ride tickets and bought more. I think it cost like $12 to get into MK. River Country was like $8. We could see something huge was being built off in the distance, it was EPCOT.

1993, I was 8... celebrating anything? My parents were likely celebrating not having to hear me cry, and cry, and cry about going to Disney.

May, 2010... first Disney Trip as an adult. 25 Y.O celebrating life with the love of my life.

July 2005 when my DD danced on stage in the Magic Kingdom with her dance studio. They were great despite the 90 degree heat while they were dancing.

My first trip was in '92. It was me35, DH36, BFF33 and DD3. We were celebrating DD's finally mastering the concept of potty training (told her that kids with diapers weren't allowed in Mickey's House - cruel, I know, but it worked!) Drove 19 hours down from PA and stayed at the Poly and I was hooked - think it cost around $1500 for the week, and that included food! Told DH I was sorry we waited until we had kids to go. Been back 8 times since.
