So I have decided to take my daughters on a disney cruise to celebrate my oldest turning 7. Ill have a 4 yr old and a 7 yr old and me, a 27 year old guy. So i guess what I want to know is the basic and what i may need. Any tips are welcomed. I worried that I wont really have much to do but my kids will have a ball. What about transportation from airport to port. I plan on leaving from port Canaveral in may. Again all help is welcomed. Thanks!

duck, first of all, you're going to have a great time, even as a 27 year old guy! Your girls will have a great time. You may not even see them for most of the trip.

My suggestion is for you to read the FAQ at the top of this forum. It answers a LOT of questions that you will have. The link is:

http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=756886

Questions about what to pack, dress codes at dinner, transportation to/from the airport, tips, etc are all addressed there. If you still need more info, by all means, come back to this thread and ask away.

Hi Duck! What a great birthday present! You'll find lots to do! Disney does a great job of keeping the adults entertained too.

My first piece of advice is to get there at least one day before you sail. That way you've got some wiggle room if your flights get delayed.

If you come in the day before you can still get Disney transfers, you just need to stay in or around the airport or at one of the Disney resorts.

Disney transfers are $35 per person each way. They are usually the most convenient option.

Renting a car is another, sometimes cheaper option.

There's a good list of FAQ's at the top of the cruise forum and lots of members around here that love to answer questions! So ask away. :)

The first cruise I went on was me and my two girls - at the time ages 6 and 9 (though I am a bit older than you)

You will have plenty to do with and without your girls. Mine never went off to do stuff by themselves, not wanting to miss out on what dad was doing, but there is plenty for them by themselves as well.

After you read the FAQ, ask any questions you want.

For new cruisers.. I really recommend the passporter book. You can get the online or print version of the book http://www.passporter.com/store/dclonline.aspx it covers everything from which cruise to take, the boats, where to stay, excursion info, tips on the rooms/packing/eating/entertainment. Etc its a very good primer that should give you a lot more comfort in what to expect.

Great suggestion about the Passporter book. I didn't read that one, but we bought the Birnbaum book and it was really good, as well. I'd recommend it.

Your kids are going to, most probably, want to spend the bulk of their time on the ship in the kids clubs (which are awesome). You can still have lots of fun, me and my wife have gone sans children. There plenty of 'adult' spaces on the ships, and tons of places that you can have a great time WITH your kids (if you can pull them out of the clubs lol).

Also, I don't know what your current relationship status is, but DCL does do a single parent meet and greet type thing on their cruises.
