1st Alien Encounter

I never saw the first version of Alien Encounter live, but I loved the second one. I just thought it was brilliant from begining to end.

The first pre-show had some classic lines:
"Profit is merely a byproduct we've learned to live with."
"If something can't be done with XS, then it shouldn't be done at all."

And the 2nd pre-show between Skippy and the robot was one of Disney's finest. S.I.R. is still one of the most impressive animatronic I have ever seen. And Skippy (or should I say Scruffy) was just brilliant.

Edit: After listening to the audio from the first version, I'm glad they changed it. It's much better without the robot being a bumbling idiot.

Apparently Eisner didn't ride this with kids inside? I did Alien Encounter twice on separate visits and I'm confident no less than 5-10 kids were screaming and sobbing by the end. Of course, that's version 2, I never saw version 1.

I didn' even realize Alien Encounter opened as early as 1994. What was in there before Alien Encounter? I can't even remember anymore.

I was talking about the Alien Encounter version 1 !

I think Alien Encounter would still be around had it been placed at the Disney Studios. It just wasn't appropriate for the Magic Kingdom. Stitch's Great
Escape is still to intense for most children, and yes I know parents should read the warnings. However I think most folks going for the first time think, hey this is Disney how scarey can it be.
