So, in the age where everything is on YouTube and we wonder why people don't just put down the camera and enjoy the holiday.... Well, I'm so glad my dad videoed every single thing we did. Spent last night watching our 1989 home movie (also have 1988 but haven't gone through it yet). Filmed on a briefcase sized camera. I'm going to try and upload the whole thing but need to get it transferred first so could be a few days. Some highlights were:
Magic Kingdom:
Shows/Meet and Greets - Clap your Hands on the Castle stage with Robin Hood/Friar Tuck/Prince John/Maid Marion etc.
A ride about Magnificent Men in their flying machine - I think Buzz must have taken over this as I weirdly recognised the tunnel where you felt like you were going hyperspeed.
Walking through pretty much empty walkways, definitely low season.
The shop windows were all Ariel.
Main Street Transportation ran all day and our on ride video shows just how green the hub was.
The parade.
On ride Thunder Mountain.
Epcot:
Inside Wonders of Life
Full on ride Horizons
World of Motion
Random Meet and greets - lovely section of Mickey sat on the floor playing cars with a little boy
Inside The Living Seas
Journey into Imagination (there could be the upstairs too but I ducked out the room for a bit)
MGM:
It is sooooo empty without the hat!
Queue and on ride Movie Ride
A show of Hollywood Musicals - Minnie is the lady in the tutti fruity hat and also In the money. Goofy can't dance, won't do it. It amazed me who the supporting cast dancers were actually dancers, and Minnie was such a mover - I noticed she had different shoes. My favourite bit was the star of the show - special guest Roger Rabbit!
The dinosaur was in the lake.
Full show of Indiana Jones - do they still do audience participation? There were 10 or so guests taken and dressed as extras.
River Country:
Lots of footage of the bottomless rock slide pools, the donut waterslide, the normal slide, the zip line, the zoo.
Driving up I-drive and going to Chilis
Boardwalk and Baseball:
Swing ride, the wooden roller coaster, enterprise, tilt o whirl.
That's just what I watched - still need to finish it but my gosh it was a brilliantly nostalgic video. Thankfully there is not too much of me aged 12, my 5 year old said "is that you with the fluffy hair?" How did we cope without straighteners lol. My dad was a year younger than me and looks incredibly like Ned Flanders!
