I mean, what if we did?

It’s been a running joke since day 1 so it almost seems poetic to include it. Or we could save it for the finale

Seriously though, I agree with breaking into districts (should it benefit us), but the big issue is, what do we theme it to?

I predicted this one after the hotel prompt, so here’s a few concepts I came up with off the top of my head

- Make it another take on Americana to fit in with Harbortown and The Grand American. We can have “neighborhoods” focusing on Chinatown, New Orleans, San Francisco, etc.

- Make it a sci-fi city to make up for Epcot tomorrowland

- Entirely themed to Oakey Oaks from Chicken Little

- A Wild West theme since we didn’t get frontierland

- Obligatory nautical theme that we’ve suggested for every project thus far
I like the first idea, but with a twist.

We've done a lot of american stuff, but what about our fellows across the pond? How about having sections for each different country?

I don't want to go full World Showcase with this though, 'cause I now know what happens when Epcot gets used in a prompt

The Americana theme is a solid idea and would fit some of the theming we've been doing for this resort, but a sci-fi city could be fun. Maybe lean into a cyberpunk aesthetic for it.

That could also be neat, actually. How many other countries would we reflect? While reflecting a variety of nations across the globe would be nice, we could focus on Europe potentially.

At the very least, Atlas Plaza would be a good name for such a place.

I hesitate to do an “around the world” theme because world showcase is a very overdone theme in Armchair Imagineering. If we stuck to just Europe it could be neat, but we already have London heavily in Seasons of Fantasyland so I’d avoid England at least.

Although, looking at Disney Springs, it works so well because it really is one location with different areas. It’s a town built on a Florida spring. I feel like if we do too many separate countries or locations, it may feel disjointed

I assume everyone here except me has direct experience with Disney Springs. I’ve only been to their other shopping districts, which range from mediocre (Disneytown) to outright bad (Ikspiari), and none have obvious themes beyond generic contemporary. So after winning HOH last week, I’ll loyally follow the group’s whims. All the themes proposed so far would work.

How about programmatic thinking? What are our needs regardless of theme?

Three districts always works.

For Disney Bazaar in Mumbai we separated districts by function, with retail, dining and entertainment areas, each offering other functions in supporting roles.

Having 4-5 must-do themed eateries like Jock Lindsey’s or Boathouse or heck even Adventurer’s Club, that’s crucial. Having a few centerpiece highly-themed shops, one a World of Disney thing, yes. Creating attraction-worthy entertainment options, of course. I say divide the tasks up that way.

BTW, I’m assuming this is on the lakeshore in between the hotel and park.

I see what your talking about.

Just had another quick idea. We could set it up so that the Resort entrance is through this Downtown Disney sort-of thing on the right side of the lagoon and it would resemble the modern day architecture with a Disney twist. Then, exiting to either the hotel or the park, it transitions to the different world of magic and fantasy with a tunnel similar to Galaxy's Edge transition tunnels in function.

I think this would be a great way to transition from today to fantasy, though it does pose the problem of having to design a shopping center closely related to how Springs looks like in real life.

Just an idea!

Ideas have kind of died down so it might not be a bad idea to vote on something and split it up. Any other ideas before we vote?
Just gonna reiterate my Americana theme just since it’ll be on the other side of Harbortown looking at the Grand American. Thematically, having an “American Neighborhood” approach would be thematically consistent.

We could still have all of the unique restaurants and chains, just theme the exterior to whatever locale we pick

I'm going to have my idea of a more modern day shopping center on the right side of the lagoon with transitions to the hotel and theme park up for vote too.

(elaborating on PerGron's idea): Oh, also instead of modern day, we could do a 1920's americana shopping "town" sort-of like the entrance to HWS as a theme in my proposed model also.

If we wanted to lean into the Americana idea, how about if we did this place like a California coastal town, as a kind of counterpoint to the New England inspiration of Harbortown?

I was thinking New Orleans since California is already represented in The Grand American
I like this! Thinking of the House of Blues at I believe DL's Downtown Disney. Also, we could have dikes to keep the lagoon water out of the shopping center! 🤣

In all seriousness though, as a fan/player of jazz music this is a great idea to have dinner shows and more. I support this!

One final random idea. Do a small Italian Village, like where Franklin Keys was born. I
I really like that idea! My only concern is that it becomes a massive backstory now for just a hotel and shopping area. And I don't want us to feel forced to continue the backstory if we have more outside of the park to do.
