1986: An Imagineering Competition - HYPE THREAD

So part of me is thinking this movie seems crowded for what is supposed to be Spider-Man 3, but then another part remembers Captain America: Civil War and is ecstatic!
SM3 is definitely going to be a crazy event. I'm very excited to see how the rest of the news plays out.

A lot of people are forgetting that SM3 isn't the only movie bringing back old characters. Both Wandavision and Doctor Strange 2 have been rumored to have multiple characters come back. It is going to be very interesting to see how this multiverse idea plays out starting next month with Wandavision.

For anyone interested in reading along, I have just embarked on a holiday project lasting 12 days for well the 12 days of Christmas :D
Every day a new project, and every project contains a hint as to what is coming the following day. You are all more than welcome to guess what could possibly be coming each day :D

Here's the introduction post: https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/imagineering-12-days-of-christmas.971194/
The 12 Days Of Christmas

https:///wp-content/uploads/2020/11/sdhvbljh5b67-624x351-1.jpg

After taking a break from larger Imagineering projects for a while I decided to step back into the ring with 12 different projects spread across the 12 days, and every single project will be tied into the holidays making this Imagineering 12 Days of Christmas! Every day a new project will be posted here rather it be a small offering to something as large as say a new land. Each project will contain a holiday clue to what the next day's project is going to be, and all are welcome to guess what could be next! So from now until Decemeber 21st, the 12 Days of Christmas begins! Get ready for the merriest of Imagineering threads as we embark on the most jolliest of park celebrations!

To navigate these twelve days of Christmas an advent calendar will be present on this post to help navigate to every new day, and every single project. In fact the advent calendar already has its first gift ready, a redone Kalikimaka Tiki Room which was featured in March Mania Season 2, but lost in Round 4 while reaching elite eight status. This redo provides a guideline for some of the holiday touches that newer projects aim to achieve this year. To use the advent calendar just click on a day that has been revealed, and with Christmas magic and technology voila you're transported!

Super hyped now
  • Obi-Wan show with Hayden and Ewan back
  • Ahsoka and the New Republic show interconnecting... so like the MCU, but as shows?
  • Bad Batch looks like Clone Wars Electric Boogaloo, excited to explore more of the early Empire!
  • Heck even Andor looks great, seems to have a similar vibe as the Mandalorian
  • Cars show!
  • Buzz Lightyear movie! (Although not sure about Chris Evans)
  • Loki trailer looks amazing
  • Marvel Phase 4 is exciting with so many movies and shows now to keep track of

Yes
  • I'm excited for all the Disney shows like Moana and Tiana and all. Pixar stuff looks cool too.
  • Lightyear sounds weird, but the good kind of weird.
  • Star wars stuff is all cool. No real surprises, though it is nice to see it official. The old Asian dude from Kim's convenience who was in 2 episodes of the Mandalorian isn't in the New Republic show, I'll riot.
  • Marvel similarly didn't have much in the way of surprises, but all great stuff and nice to see official.
  • EXCEPT FOR A GAURDIANS OF THE GALAXY HOLIDAY SPECIAL THAT IS SO COOL AND WEIRD AND RANDOM
  • I want them to do more than sequels, reboots, and spiritual successors on Disney+. There's a few smaller scale projects and the Pixar show. But I'd love to see more. Announce a new sitcom for the streaming service by Adam F. Goldberg or a new original animated show by Alex Hirsch/Dana Terrace. Things like that which could carry the service beyond existing brands/names.
  • That being said, I'm pretty happy and I think this will be a great slate of projects in the next 2-3 years.
  • Where was Monsters at Work? Did that get secretly cancelled?
  • No Muppets? Get the Muppets their own Feige type figure so they can get that brand's crap together. Maybe Jason Segal? He seemed to really get what made them special, relaunched them once, and made probably the best thing with Muppets since the early 90s.

My thoughts:
  • the projects I'm most interested in are the weird oddball stuff: Turning red, Lightyear, Wimpy kid, and the one about the magic house (forgot the name). These are the stuff that you won't hear much about but seem insanely interesting. And you guys already know how hyped I am for the Wimpy Kid movie haha
  • the marvel stuff has brought up my hopes some. Not the biggest marvel fan but I was kinda worried how things would go post avengers endgame. Seems like they have a solid plan, though I do have some worries about fantastic four since that IP seems to have some sort of curse. Let's hope things go well there!
  • Star wars stuff also seems intersting, hopefully they're spaced out some that there's no repeat of the fatigue that happened during the new trilogy. Considering how good mandalorian seems (I really need to get around to watching that) I have high hopes for most of these.
  • I am excited for star and just find it insanely funny that family guy is on it. I'm all into family guy memes, what can I say?
  • Enchanted 2 is by far the sequel I'm most excited for as well as the princess and the frog series if that counts as a "sequel". Not too excited for anything else or any of the live action remakes though.
overall pretty good! had to get all my excitement out of my system before typing this or else it would have just been "WIMPY KID RGTRGEWDS" haha

Wimpy Kid hype might have been a few years after my time, but the animation did look very nice. That and the Night at the Museum cartoon should both be pretty fun

Right when I saw the Diary of a Wimpy Kid logo and art my mind went straight to you lmao. It’s finally getting justice after the horrible sequel released a few years back.

Wait they announced that? Now I am EXTRA HYPE aaaaaaaa

Oh yeah for sure, I have high hopes for this. Last I checked the author of the books is writing the screenplay which means it will be pretty close to the quality of the books with a disney touch. Some people who are fans aren't too big on the characters being colored in since the books and past movies had them in a paper like style, which I get but I figured that style wouldn't work in a full movie. Though I am surprised the characters still use the default "models". I was guessing for a while they would be done in the modern disney cgi style and this was a pleasant surprise!
