Hi all...I've used this site for years but didn't realize they had a message board community! So I'm new!

I'm a professor of art/design and a long time WDW fan. I was at my Mother's house a few days ago and we were cleaning out a closet and found some old slide carousels. I found a batch of WDW slides from around 1976. I scanned them in and tried to clean them up a little bit (although I like the 'instagrammed' quality of old Kodachrome slides.

This is the first batch...it takes a while to clean them up. Hope you enjoy them.

Thanks for the warm welcome! The slide scanners take forever and as soon as I get them all in I'm going to post more. Glad everyone likes them!

I've look into scanners for slides, but cannot seem to find one that has totally 100% glowing reviews...May I ask which one you are using?

It's a loaded answer! I'm a professor and chair of an art and graphic design department and we have professional labs and equipment. I don't remember the brand name off hand but I'll check when I'm in tomorrow! But I do know it was 1000's of dollars.

Couldn't resist playing with the color balance on this one.
I really wish they would consider cutting back the tree growth around the Mansion one of these days.
The place looked huge back then.

I'm glad you played around with it. I had them in photoshop but resisted...I like the 'instagrammed' quality and the pinkishness of the old slides. I'm glad you liked the image though!

I'm pretty sure they don't want to show the light green building in the background for guests to see. Isn't the reason that it's supposed to be neglected. It builds up the mystery of the mansion.

Very cool to see the old pics. My family started going to Disney every year since 1975. A few years ago, we put all of the old Disney slides on DVD for my parents as a Christmas present. My mom actually cried watching the DVD.

I haven't thought about the DVD idea...Good one. My Dad passed away 15 years ago and it would be a nice way to remember our family trips to WDW in the 1970's.

The trees to the side serve an important purpose, but the four larger trees out front extend far past the Mansion's first floor.
Removing or replacing them with something smaller to create a bigger sense of a front lawn would restore a better sense of scale from the front queue. This would be even better if they got rid of the covered awning during the less busy times of the year.

Not sure about WDW, but wasn't Walt insistent that the outside of the mansion NOT appear dilapidated? At least for the Disneyland original one. I'm fairly sure he was...shooting down many concepts that showed a run down mansion.

When it came to Disneyland's, he was, but the WDW version is completely different, in location, concept, and architecture.
My point is that dilapidated need not mean small.
