1900 Park Fare or BoG?

I asked about Park Fare a while ago and got mixed responses, but was really excited to give it a go until I was actually making my ADRs and BoG was available at 7:30pm on the night we're hopping over to MK to see the MSEP, Wishes and, hopefully, take advantage of evening EMH. We were going to do Park Fare about 6 then hop over on the monorail. Dilemma!! I knew if I didn't book BoG I wouldn't have the option so I took it but do I keep it or cancel and get a reservation at Park Fare which is not such an elusive ADR? We have done dinner at BoG before, but it is so pretty... Think husband might like an all-you-can-eat option... Two boys were ok about meeting a princess and her step-family and they really like the buffet options but thought Beast was awesome and loved the cupcakes...:confused::confused:

100% BoG.....1900 park fare is vastly overrated. I was not impressed with 1900 at all.

Haven't been to BoG yet but I dislike 1900 Park Fare very much. The food was very underwhelming and the service always seems to be slow. The character interactions with the Tremaine family are always entertaining, but you can already meet them in the MK.
This is spot on. My family and I were really excited about going to 1900 and eating but as soon as I walked into the restaurant, I was surprised by the room. Not like the other places. Small and just not awesome looking like others. Food was very sub-par as well.

We've been to both and it's kind of a toss up. While 1900 PF dinner was better than Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace dinner...it's like most Disney lunch/dinner buffets...you have to go in with lowered expectations and realize it's more about the characters. Still, the pot stickers and sushi were good enough to keep me fairly happy. BOG wins for atmosphere, but the food there is also a toss up. We enjoyed our appetizers at BOG, but 3 out of 4 of our entrees were between meh to just plain bad and there are better cupcakes on property IMO. Sure, I prefer a cupcake as a snack and would prefer to see a nicer dessert menu...so that's part of it too.

In a nutshell...I think you have to put food aside and decide...would I rather dine in Beast's castle or meet Cindy and the step family?

I've done breakfast at 1900 and enjoyed it immensely every time. Have not done dinner at either one so I can't comment, though my gut says BoG, simply because that's harder to get into.

We've done both and would choose BOG again. You're in the park which makes it easy to enjoy attractions before and after your meal. You won't have to deal with the monorail crowd, baggage check, and walk up Main Street to get to where you would like to be for the parade and fireworks. BOG is also beautiful inside and out.

I know, the first time I went I think I was expecting more grandeur as it is a table service in Grand Floridian. It kind of felt like a cafeteria but we liked the breakfast.

This is what I can't decide.

We did enjoy our meals at BoG but, you're right, a better dessert menu would help. We had the benefit of some halloween themed cupcakes to choose from that were tasty but if they added creme brulee...

I did kind of feel I was taking BoG just because it's a hard one to get and it was just there: right date, right time - like I have to have it! I really want to try new places this visit and we have beaches&cream, chef mickey and Hollywood&vine as new picks and ohana (dinner), crystal palace (breakfast) and tusker house (breakfast) as old favourites. We're happy with our other ADRs but now in a quandary.

I don't think it helps that these are 2 restaurants where inconsistency is an issue. Back in 2013, I chose 1900 PF dinner over BOG dinner simply because we'd never done 1900 PF dinner. I figured I loved breakfast there and already had eating at BOG for dinner and I had a FP for lunch at BOG, so we went for it with dinner at 1900. So, maybe that's an option? Trying 1900 PF for dinner and then going to BOG for qs lunch or breakfast.
