$172 drop in WDW vacation package!!!

I was just messing around on the WDW website, and I came across a link for recent promotions. Disney has lowered the rates for some of their resorts. They are calling this plan the Summer Dream Maker Package.

I am scheduled to make my final payment on March 28. I booked my package through Disney themselves and it came up to $1,460. Now the same package (well, almost the same) is going for $1,288. The only difference is I am currently reserved in the AS Movies. The only value resorts they have open for the new price is the AS Sports (hate sports) and the AS Music. My fiance and I really wanted to stay in the AS Movies because of the general themeing.

I don't even know if Disney would even allow me to change to the lower price. What do you all think? Should I try and get the lower price before I send Disney my final payment?

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Did You Hear About This Package???

Have you heard about Southwest's Friends Fly Free special? Their prices undecut the WDW price by nearly %50!

Check this out - my wife and I have just booked a four day, three night package for $650 during the last week of April. For this price we get two round-trip tickets non-stop from Baltimore to Orlando, a mid-size rental car from Dollar, and three nights at PO-R - and this includes all taxes and fees! Same package with WDW would run about $1,200!

Before making a final decision, I strongly suggest you check Southwest airlines package deals - you'll be amazed!

Definitely call up and explain the price difference. We "changed" our reservations several times because of better deals coming out, and we had no problems. We, too, wanted to stay at ASMo, and even though the package was not open there when I called, the operator put the new package in at ASMu to confirm the price difference, then switched it to ASMo. No problem!! It never hurts to ask!! :)

im a little bitter becuase i just found out if i book a vacation at the animal kingdom lodge with my disney creditcard its only 139 a night. im angry cause im going to vegas in may and i dont have any money. i know thats still pricey but they may have a deal with the AS resorts, i just cant stand the transportation or i would go with them. i usually go with a moderate resort but this deal is just too good, AKL is the best but i cant normally afford it

Just checked out the Southwest deals - you're right, that IS an amazing deal!! The only thing I'd caution is about park passes...I know the Disney packages include them, while the Southwest won't (until the final calculation), so if you don't have an AP, you have to remember to add the cost of those as well. Thanks for the heads up!! :)

Yep, when we saw the price, our jaws hit the floor! Wow!

And you are very right about the park passes - we are not getting any passes. We are going to the two Universal Parks because when we were in WDW for our 10 day honeymoon in Nov 2001, we didn't make it to Universal (for various reasons). And we have found we can get the park passes cheaper elsewhere (like with a military discount).

Also, I noticed that the minimum park pass package is for four days. So, if you are going for three days, you are going to loose a day UNLESS you get an early flight in and a late flight out.

The other thing I want to caution every on are the rental car prices included in the package. The price Southwest quotes is for however many full days you are going.

For example - we will be paying $78 for our car, and will be picking it up at 10:30 on Monday morning, and dropping it off at 10:30 on Thrusday morning, before our 12:45 PM flight home. If we take a later flight and drop the car off after 10:30, it's almost $40 more!!!!! So you need to be real careful when booking a rental car with this package!

If anyone is confused, or has questions, please let me know! So far, so good with Southwest!

I can't believe we are going back in a month!
