There is nothing specific that is done for birthdays, but, often Cast Members will do something, if you let them know when you're making a reservation.

Over the years, we've gotten balloon bouquets in the room, cards signed by Mickey, birthday cake at full service restaurants, etc but NOTHING is guaranteed, and, as far as I know, is strictly up to the hotel/restaurant manager. That's why you might read about one guest getting all sorts of special treats, and someone else complaining that he/she got nothing.

I'm sure some castmembers can chime in about this.

If you want a guaranteed surprise for your daughter, you'll have to order (and pay for it) yourself. :)

Make sure you get her a "Happy Birthday" pin at City Hall. Usually when CMs see it they'll make some sort of reference to it - wish a happy birthday, give you special seating, etc. Don't expect that everyone will make a big deal about it, of course, but many will. At Disneyland a couple of months ago my wife got me one, and so I was constantly being wished a happy birthday. Also, I don't know if Disney World has anything similar, but Disneyland has a "Happiest Birthdays on Earth" party. It's more kiddie-oriented, though, so that's probably not what you're looking for.

We'll be down there at the same time for my 21st birthday (We went for my 16th, and a few others in between as well)

I second the birthday buttons. Now it is just the one button that is the same everywhere, I think. Previously, they had a different pin for each park, but that's changed.

Have her wear the pin everywhere - over the years I've gotten everything from a free cupcake (Starring Rolls, on an empty morning) - to the characters mouthing Happy Birthday to me from the bubbles in the MK Parade :)

Everyone has a different experience with it, and none of this is for sure.

Best of luck - and I hope it's a Happy Birthday (Hurray for January Birthdays!)
