14 Dead in Staten Island Ferry Accident

Just read this. Riding the ferry was one of my favorite things as a child. :(

We are having 35mph sustained winds with gust over 45. I know that is being questioned as a cause.

Just read that the think the pilot may have fallen asleep.

He left the wreck, broke into his home, slit his wrists and shot himself....

He shot himself, or tried to, with a pellet gun. On the news this morning he told the cops he forget to take his high blood pressure medicine. Hes' in t he hospital, don't know his condition

The ferry here collided with a Norwegian tanker and sank in 1976 or so. So many people from this town lost their lives. I feel for those affected by the Staten Island accident.

They showed the ferry on the news last night, the NTSB video. Whole side ripped out, main support beams sliced in half. They likened it to the iceberg slicing thru the Titanic. Thankfully, this didnt sink or there would have been greater loss of life than what there was. So very sad :(
