Keep in mind this thread is close to a year old......
I hate it when I don't pay enough attention and don't notice the original post is old..... Sometimes the questions may still be relevant but obviously way too late for the original poster.
A nice enhancement to the web page (for those of us who forget to look before we leap) would be to have the date on a post stay green for 30 days, then turn yellow for another thirty, then turn red after 60 days.
Of course I guess I could just pay more attention but that sure takes a lot of effort on my part...

1) If you want to order from the children menu for your son then do so
2) If you're now thinking of buying the Deluxe Plan, with an "adult" child who will only eat off the children's menu then you're wasting your money
3) A "childs" portion is just that - child size. There's no "slightly larger" portions unless you're eating at buffet restaurants
This. And in terms of BOG, it's replicating Beauty and the Beast, which takes place in France. This would not be the place for a diverse menu of traditional American fare (although, for dinner, they do literally offer steak and some sort of potato option, if I remember correctly. If your son will not eat things of of most restaurants, don't bother getting the DDP.

I meant that I get kids meals at fast food restaurants, but I do still get the kids meals at most dine-in restaurants and it fills me up. There isn't usually an age limit for kids meals at the restaurants I go to.
I know QS restaurants let anyone order from the kid's menu, as I frequently do (don't eat much). But when you say dine in, are you referring to the Disney TS restaurants?

I completely agree that some topics are always relevant. But in responding back its good to know that the OP has been back from their trip for about 3 months and some of the information first given could be inaccurate 10 months later as dining plan policies change all of the time.

I like the colored date idea as it seems time to time we see several archived posts come back around without noticing dates right away.

Almost every dine-in restaurant that my family goes to. Usually my parents get me a kids menu or ask me if I want a kids menu at the front.

I actually played this in the other direction once with "Free" dining when I registered my 9 year old as a 10 year old so he could order from the full menu in case he was so inclined. And over the course of a two-week stay not a single server batted an eye when he did.

Not to your face anyway :p:p:p[/QUOTE
HaHa! I guess I should clarify that we are 2 adults who do not use any dining plans, so if you pay cash they don't care what you order:) We switched from dining plans 2 years ago to OOP and love it. Never going back. We save money, eat what we want when we want, and don't feel like we have to eat everything to break even.

My 17 year old daughter orders from the kids menu from time to time both here at home and at Disney. Not because I'm cheap, but sometimes she just isn't super hungry. No one has ever said anything to us anywhere
