My wife and I got back Friday night from a 12 day stay at AKL. It was our first stay at AKL. The hotel was beautiful and the food was amazing. Summary: There were a lot of foreigners (I mean A LOT, must be the devalued dollar), AKL transportation is as bad as people say and I learned that there are always more things to see and do at WDW.
Day 1
Wanyama Safari - Awesome... the safari was awesome and the food was amazing. Got a standard room, but it must have really been savanah view because we could see all animals from our balcony. Could tell the first night that it was a good idea to make ADR for Boma later in the trip.
Day 2
Kennedy Space Center - It can be a whole day thing if you do everything. The Star Trek experience is corny but fun. The robot walk through was down, none of the animatronics were working and the audio was off... oh well. I definitely suggest doing the bus tour, at least visit the Saturn V rocket (second stop on the tour). What I enjoyed most about the day... our rental car, a 2010 Impala. Great compared to my ailing Crown Vic at home with the blown sparkplug, leaking radiator and non functioning AC.
Day 3
Universal - Tasted butter beer and waited 1.5 hours to get stuck on HP and slowly ride through with the lights on. We got a shot of flue powder sat in a midway tilt on the robo arm for another half hour while they "rebooted". We got a fast pass to be used anywhere *except the Forbidden Journey (that would make too much sense). There is a great Thai restaurant in a strip mall somewhere in Orlando, when I find the name I'll let you know.
Day 4
DTD - Disney Quest for the first time. I enjoyed it and so did my pregnant wife... all indoors and she could do everything except the Virtual Jungle Cruise. That brownie was chocolate overload. La Nouba was one of my top three favorite things on this trip. It was like watching a strange, beautiful dream. T-Rex was ok, I was actually more impressed with the food than the experience which was the opposite of what I expected.
To be continued... (the good stuff starts Day 5, Disney Parks)
