I will be going on my first visit to WDW in January. It will be just me and by 11 year old son. He eats very little and is a picky eater. I was wonder if there would be a problem with him eating from the kids menu when we go to table service restaurants at WDW. We are not on a dining plan.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Some restaurants may have staff that will give you a look, but unless you're eating off the child's menu as well, you'll be fine. :)

Officially, no. The Childrens' Menu is strictly for those aged 3-9.

That said, if you order it without making mention of his age, they'll likely let you have it. Deciding what age your son is is not high on any server's priorities. They want you happy so you'll tip well.

Once he's beyond the point of his age being vague... It might become harder to do. But I've heard adults on the boards say they've ordered from the kids' menu.

I can not imagine that someone will make an issue of this. I have gone with an individual that ordered a "kids" item as an adult at a table service restaurant, and all was good in CM-ville.

I have ordered off of the kids menus multiple times at Disney and have never had a problem...and I am in my 20's LOL. So I wouldn't worry about it. :)

Children's Menus = boring options in small portions

There's no special deals with kids menus (unless it's "kids eat free" or something like that) so I don't see why you couldn't.

I have kids who can be picky as well. They've been allowed (we always ask the server first) to order off of the kids menu at several different table service locations.

I am an ultra picky eater* and have ordered off the kids menu for myself with never any problem, not to be "cheap", but simply to get food I like that wasn't on the "adult" menu, like macaroni and cheese, and small cheese pizzas at restaurants that didn't serve "adult" pizza, etc. I'm sure they were happy to have my business, if the alternative was me just ordering an ice cream or something to drink! ;)

* My taste in food makes some little kids look like ultra-sophisticated food critics, by comparison! ;) (And since I became a vegetarian, ruling out (plain) burgers, fried chicken, fried shrimp, and (plain) hot dogs, finding food I like is even more difficult). Of course, when I'm by myself, I usually bypass table service all together, and usually stick with pizza and/or fries, (and sometimes kid's menu mac and cheese) from counter service, and a plethora of snacks throughout the day, such as popcorn and ice cream. But it's nice to know the kid's menu options are available to me at the table service locations.

We went to the California Grill a couple of weeks ago and my sister and her friend weren't very hungry (crazy I know). The waiter had no problem bringing them orders of Kids Pasta.
