Ok..This question is targeted to everyone...I know flying from UK that most people do a 14 day trip..Now that may include going to other places like Universal..Sea World..Shopping Malls.....etc....But if your deciding to stay inside the bubble, and have been to WDW before.( so it's not all new to you ) Would you consider an 11 night vacation.?..Yes I know it's a long flight from the UK..But to be honest leaving at 10.30am and arriving at Orlando at 2.30pm I no longer suffer jet lag...The reason I'am asking is I have definitely decided that AKL ( sorry PORS ) will be my next resort stay..And the 11 day vacation is a lot cheaper than the 14 day trip...( always looking to save a Buck ) ..I'am talking approx $1500 a saving..That's in total..resort + tickets + flights?...I remember last year,on our last day we were pooped..We had done all the attractions we had wanted to do..Saw the live shows..Ate at our ADR restaurant choices..Shopped and spent well over $1000 in souvenirs...We were ready for home...So I'am curious to know what your favourite vacation time period is.?..Is 5 days enough..Or 7 days..Have you done 11 days and were happy that you had achieved all your goals...:inlove:...Your thoughts on this please...?..

Well, Hatter, I think this is a really personal decision. For me, giving up 3 days to save $1500 since I'll already have 11 days at the world would be a no-brainer, but I'm not flying from the UK and I don't know that $1500 is as big of a deal to you as it is to me! You may make double my salary! So I think that all depends on what $1500 means to you. If money is no object, I would most definitely stay for an extra three days because (at least for me) no matter how long you stay, there's always more to do! It would also depend on how long you think it'll be before you'll get back.

I spent 16 days at WDW last December and I would have happily stayed longer! But again, I think it's all down to the $1500 and how big of a jump that is for your family.

We are in the US and usually do 7 days, as @vitani88 stated it depends what is more dear to you the $1500.00 or the 3 extra days. I would also spend a lot longer time if I could but as we have been many times we tend to the new thing we want to see, old favorites and then time permitting everything else. If you take out the evrything else 11 days should do for a very nice vacation. On the other hand $500.00 dollars a day for 3 people is about $167.00 per person a day. Not too bad for WDW.

Trust me...$1500 is loads to me....I took early retirement 3 years ago...And I've nearly spent my pay package award on a $50000 on a huge house extension...:(

Wow! I hope your house is amazing! :p Honestly, I don't think 3 days is worth $1500, but then again, I'm used to DVC so I don't have to factor in room cost. As @zurgandfriend pointed out, it breaks down to about $167pp per day, so when you look at it that way, it's not terrible. I'd probably try to be content with the 11 days, but like I said, I don't think it's a decision anyone else can make for you.

Hmmm. I think 11 days is actually pretty much perfect.

A few years ago, we flew from the UK (when I was living there) with my husband's family and it was a super long flight at 10 hours. We spent 14 days thereabouts and I think by the end, we were all ready to go. I don't think it would have especially hurt to cut down a few days ... esp since it was so hot and we were all a little burned out. Yes, it's a long flight but we were up at 6am and raring to go the first day so it didn't really matter in a way.

My husband and I went to WDW for 11 days for our honeymoon and it was just enough time... even a touch too long! I never thought I'd say that (we had been on a 4 day cruise too) but I missed our puppy and we'd done pretty much everything we wanted to do by the ninth day or so.

My vote is for 11 days and save the $1,500!!

PS: My husband will be shocked I actually voted to save money. He thinks that I think it grows on trees. ;)

Cheers..Yeh...The extension was the same size as the existing villa..We had so much ground at the rear of our property,we were advised to build onto it...It took just over two years to complete...

Hatter, Our favorite time period is Christmas (I've been there for 5 Christmas trips now ranging from 10-17 park days...We plan extra days so we don't have to worry about missing something and calm the stress. Hit the park early stay late at the beginning. have days towards the end to "Finish up" areas missed. This last trip we had 11 park days and 2 Right in the middle for Gatorland and Sea World to break up the trip. Back to your orig question can everything get done in 7 days...At Christmas I would say NO unless you go nonstop all 7 days open to close allowing the stress to set in. Possibly during the off season. Our 11 in the parks would have been enough if my son didn't get the flu right before we left killing off our finish up Epcot Day. But we did get everything else done.

Join me, together we can rule the galaxy.
We typically stay at least 14 days, but plan days to sleep in and rest a bit in between rather than power through 14-18 hour days walking/running/standing. The more we go, the more we have learned to relax and take our time, take in all that WDW has to offer not just in attractions, but tour a few of the resorts, dine around a bit, simply take time to relax between long days.

We thought about doing a 10 day trip once when money was a little tight but finally decided not to do it. For us, time flies past so quick, that we want to stay as long as we can. Ultimately, given the time it takes to go to Florida from UK, how little extra it costs to stay the extra four days, the time it takes to get over jet-lag, we have a rule of 14 days-or-bust, having come to the conclusion that WDW isn't worth coming to for anything less for the given reasons.

This time, we're lucky enough to be staying for 17 days in just over 30 days time and we intend to make the most of it, as we're not sure it will ever happen again.

I think the early morning flight from UK makes a big difference..Arriving at Orlando around early afternoon..We are so excited and it's still light and the buzz is in the air..We once had a late flight out of Glasgow around 5.00pm..When we arrived at our resort and made it to MK just in time for Wishes at 10.00pm, we were shattered the next day...Just my thinking of it..

Morning flight helps (or in our case midday flight), but when its time to leave, we usually write off the last day as a travel day. Booking Virgin Atlantic gives us the chance to check in at Downtown Disney very early in the morning and we can usually squeeze in an extra 6 hours of WDW until we have to leave.

Agree...But because we arrive around 4.00pm at our resort..We use our first day pass on arrival therefore the last day,our 14 day ticket has been used up..We just put our cases in the resort storage area and sail down the Sassagoula river to do some last minute shopping at downtown..

I have to definately go with the $1500 savings. We're a tad closer to Disney, and do 7 - 10 days. That includes atleast one *down day* (we do the pool during the day and then head to Epcot for F&W at night) You will LOVE AKL! MUCH bigger rooms, wonderful multiple dining options and if you don't want to wait for the bus, a quick $20 American dollar trip by cab to any resort/park on Disney property. We have never done less than 7 days, this year doing 10 days. Plus, your next Disney vacation (I refuse to say your last Disney vacation) Will be during Food and Wine!! 11 nights... you and your wonderful family, is definately the way to go!!

Well, if you are visiting when the weather is pretty nice, where you can do the parks during the day without suffering heat stroke...yet warm enough you can still visit the pool and enjoy then, I would think 11 days at AKL would be an adequate vacation given you really are going to have 9 1/2 days because of travel days?
So far my longest stay at the world has been 12 days...and I have to confess I could stay longer. But 12 days is nice, it is long enough that I know I have been gone a while on vacation and I really don't feel rushed since I have almost 2 weeks but I still don't do everything I plan. There is always a ride or two I never got on, or something I didn't eat...I do tend to go at crowded time periods and I will hunker down at the resort rather than stand around with the masses.
I just can't believe you are trying a new resort... :jawdrop:

If I was only going to WDW and nowhere else, eleven days would be enough. I visited Orlando for sixteen days once and hit all seven of the big parks as well as Gatorland, DTD and an offsite dinner show. We also took a few sleep-in mornings. :)

Hello,

I'm a new user here, I just recently came back from WDW( a month ago) and stayed at Port Orleans Riverside.
Id have to say that if you're kinda new.. 7 days is definitively NOT ENOUGH.. so much to do and to see! and that is only mentioning the WDW bubble.

(ps, Mexican Visitor here, greetings from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico)

It all depends on your personal "vacation stamina." As much as I'd love to stay for more than a week, my family and I get a little homesick by the 6th or 7th day. One week at a time lets us do enough to be satisfied, with enough remaining to serve as a "teaser" for a future visit, and we're glad to go home by then.
