10 bucks a day for a fridge?

I see that the value resorts at Disney charge $10.00 per day for a fridge in the room. Does anyone know whether they allow you to bring your own? I have one I use in my office that would be very easy to throw in the car.

They won't care if you bring a fridge. A lot of times if you're staying a full week it's less expensive to just buy one from walmart to use for the week than to pay the $10 per day to rent one. But since you already have one, definitely bring it!

Confirmed through reservation line

I called reservations a few days ago and confirmed that the fridge did cost $10 a day for the value resorts. For the Moderates on up they are complementary.

Thanks for the info

I belive fridges are included in the rooms at no charge. You have to request them.
They are only comp for Moderates and Deluxe resorts -

As for the question at hand: We've taken our mini fridge for almost 5 years now - we love it! We even brought a toaster (fit right inside the fridge while driving) so we could have bagels and pop tarts for breakfast... they've never had a problem with either of these items - and we just sit them right on the little table in the All Stars... so it's not like we try and hide them or anything! :D Hope this helps!

We had one in our room at POR, didn't have to request it, and they were great! I definately recommend one, but $10 is quite pricey... Also, you're right, only for value resorts are they complimentary.

I've heard that fridges will be comped at the value resorts if someone in the room needs them for medical reasons, i.e. diabetes, baby milk, etc. I can't swear to this, but if you need it for a legitimate reason, and not just convenience, it is worth a shot to ask.

You mean only for Moderates and Deluxe's are they complimentary right?

You are 1/2 right... :D If you have a medical need or and show the front desk your medication you'll receive a fridge free of charge - unfortunatly they do not consider baby formula a "need" (um, not so sure where they expect you to keep it otherwise though... ) but when we went with my family in may my aunt had to pay the $10 per day just for the formula...

One tip: king rooms come with the fridges free of charge - not sure why, b/c not all king rooms are handicap - but even the one's that are not handicap have the fridges...

Wait a sec, you mean I get a free fridge at Poly? That might change my breakfast plans a little.
yep. We always go to Sam's and get a bunch of those individual orange juices and some muffins... makes for a decent breakfast and you can store it all right in your room!

Medical refrigerators are available at all Disney Resorts, at no charge. A medical refrigerator is much smaller then a standard room refrigerator. It can hold upto 1 month's worth of insilin, but is barely large enough to hold about 6 cans of soda and is not large enough to hold say a 2 liter bottle of soda.

The room refrigerators are about the size of a dorm room refrigerator, cost $10 per night at a value resort, and are free at a Moderate or Deluxe resort.

The Vacation Club properties come with a somewhat larger under the counter refrigerator in the studios and a full size refrigerator in the villas (1,2 & 3 bedrooms.)

It is advised not to bring any large appliances (refrigerators, microwaves, etc) from home into a Disney Resort room as it can cause a fire hazard. As to how strongly this is enforced, I cannot say.

The styrofoam coolers and free ice from the ice machines work for alot of people who stay in the Values and do not want to pay for a refridgerator.

I have had a fridge for medical reasons in my room and it was always the regular ones that Disney puts in the rooms. I have not seen the little ones.

The medical fridges are smaller and are already in the king rooms. If you request one, then they will send a regular fridge, no matter if it's for medical or not.
