I just returned from shopping around at travel agents. The first one we visited gave us a quote, and we inquired about the 10% charge at the pepper market. The travel agent had no idea what we were talking about, and contacted disney directially, the lady she spoke to at disney was unaware and contacted Coronado directiall who informed her that there is no additional charge at any food places in the resort, unless you order room service. Are they wrong?

The last time we ate at Pepper Market, I remember there was a 10% gratuity added to the bill when we checked out. This was about 3 years ago so I'm not sure it they are still doing it.

Everything i read lead me to believe they were still doing it, including the 2009 guide book i just bought, so i was confused.. Whatever travel agent we choose, i may get them to check again, and make sure i dont have to pay in addition to the dining plan.

We paid the 10% gratuity in August. If you get your food "to go" they won't charge you the 10%. You can always take your food back to your room to eat, or at one of the tables outside. It's nice sitting by the lake.

OP - If you're shopping for a Disney knowledgeable travel agent, I highly recommend Kingdom Konsultant. They are a WDWMagic sponsor and are a certified "earmarked" (Disney tested and declared knowledgeable) agency. I've used them for years and not only have I always been satisfied, I am WOWed by their service and attention to detail. Just a suggestion.

As for CS – they charged 10% at the Pepper Market when I stayed there in 2002 (first and last time). It was a nice resort, but huge and spread out. I feel the same way about CB – too big, although they just redid their pool and I hear it’s very nice.

If you’re looking for a moderate, how about Port Orleans – Riverside or French Quarter? The location is good and the resorts aren't quite as spread out as CB & CS. I love the food court and restaurant (Boatwright’s) at Riverside.
