Adding my 2 cents

Please don't make me into a Universal basher or anything of the sort.

There is a significant differerence.

Disney is a WORLD. I would never consider it as a thrill park, an amusement park or even a theme park.

You discover Disney through it's world's.

Magic Kingdom.....Magical World

Epcot....World Showcase & Future World

MGM Studios...Movie World

Animal Kingdom...Animals World

When I go to WDW I escape my everyday world and enter Walt's world. It is an escape, it's a new way of life and love for a time. If I want to be thrilled...I'll skydive. If I want to be amused....I'll go to the mall and people watch. If I want a theme...I'll wait for the holidays to roll around. I don't mind going to places like Cedar Point and Six Flags, but I go to these places for a day but I just think of them as a park. Waiting in lines for hours there is boring and the people aren't fun. I can strike up a conversation at WDW anywhere on the property and have a fun exciting time. I am not inclined to do that anywhere else. I escape into another world when I step onto the property. There is a reason why people fall in love with Disney, it's the whole atmosphere that it inspires from children to the elderly.

Having lived in Ohio all my life, Cedar Point is just a way of life... it's just something that everybody does. And last year, when I was living in Toledo, there was a radio show posing the question about whether people loved or hated WDW. And of course people called in and said "Why waste your money to go to Florida when Cedar Point is a short drive away." I literally felt my blood pressure go up! It gave me a headache! *makes mental note to add that to the "signs you are addicted to WDW thread"* It was the first time I considered calling in to a radio show. Anyway... it's so silly to put Cedar Point in this group, because it's such a totally different thing. Cedar Point is a way to spend a day if you happen to be in Ohio. (Heaven forbid it!) WDW is something to plan for, scrimp and save for, and wait in gleeful anticipation for!

Yeah, but the MK isn't the most popular theme park in the world because of thrill rides, in which it does have thrills that are actually considered classic attractions that tell stories.

It's the most popular because there is so much for so many. Not a concentrate on thrill or a specific type of show.

Now EPCOT...that may be different...look out for that one. :(

It's probably just me... but I don't understand what you mean. The EPCOT part, I mean.

EPCOT is going to be changing soon. It's a process called Project Gemini.

It includes changing 'Future World' to 'Discoveryland' (no more future theme at all), closing several attractions to revamp them, i.e. adding a roller coaster to the Land, etc, and making the whole place, basically, a giant 'forest.'

The specific ideas seem, to me, tragic. There's a lot more in the works, and the reasoning behind Gemini is that the Imagineers want something 'totally different.' This was the exact same approach they took with Journey into Your Imagination...

I wonder why they wouldn't replace Ellen's Energy show? Put in a thrill ride there, too?

I'm not endorsing Project Gemini. It just seems like they'd nix the slow-moving show/ride for something with more "thrills".

Well i dont know who decided which thrill park goes 1st but they certainly havent been to the same universal ive been to. Hello they have like 3 or 4 roller coster, to me a thrill park would be a park that every ride is a thrill. Now paramounts kings Island in ohio is a thrill park. And they should have a top 10 most magical parks i bet they would only be able to come up with one to take up all 10 spots and thats disney now i wanna see someone beat that. Making a thrill park its nothing new theres practacly one in every state, now making a magical place for people young and old only disney has been able to create.

I don't know why everyone is so against project gemini. I like some of the perposed changes. Epcot I liked the way it is/was but last time we went it seemed really out dated. unfortunitly alot of stuff that awed me about the origional epcot is now in our everyday life. like the internet, cell phones, text messangeing, digital camera's, etc. it's very difficult to keep a future theme when technology changes faster then you can keep up with it. changeing it to a discovery world seems like a good compermise. I am not against thrill rides. what I am against is roller coasters. you can have thrill rides with out being turned upside down and dropped. like, Spiderman, Mission space, Dinosaur, Test track, Indiana jones, etc. they arn't roller coasters but still thrill rides. most of what the other parks are are all roller coasters or DROP rides. heck we did IOA in 4 hours because I can't ride DROP rides. at least for every coaster diney puts in there is other things to do. Thats what is so great about disney. if your into coasters they have them if your not they have other thrilling rides. I think the proposed project gemini will be really fun, will keep some of the old attractions and pavilions, add some thrills and just really fun things to do. My favorite part would be sorin and the hedge maze. here in PA just a few hours soth of me in lancaster they have a maze mowed out of a corn field called the Maize maze. it's an awesome day trip. put something that scale into epcot with a disney twist, would be awesome. at least to me.

I agree with most of the rest of the posters that WDW shouldn't even be on the list because it isn't a "thrill park" as much as it is an experience or magical feeling, etc ... So eliminating Disney from the list, Universal has no business being that high on any park list. They are totally mediocre at best. Hands down Magic Mountain and Cedar Point have way more thrills. They have like four rides, and they aren't great rides either. When you think of sheer thrilling rides anyone that knows should immediately think of Cedar Point. Thrills and Cedar Point go together like Pam Anderson and silicone. Universal should have been 5th at best.

I don't know...I get a thrill when I walk under the train station and step onto Main Street USA and see the castle in the distance...:)

Thats what I love about Disney, they don't need thrill rides to be a great park they already have the ability to make you feel like a king or queen by just being there! :)

I have to say the Number one park in my opinion is Magic Kingdom. Someone tell me you dont get a thrill or chill walking down mainstreet, listening to the old music, everyone's smiling, and you see the occasional giant mouse running around in pants. Now, I live right in the heart of Orlando, and for the majority of my school, there favorite parks are IOA and AK (I havent figured out the last one yet)...When IOA opened down here, everyone was in shock. It was a greatly themed park, with 2 Good coasters, great water rides, and a couple, almost Disney quality, dark rides. I have been to IOA 4 times (im a self confessed Uni hater), and Im bored with it. The same experience every time, no magic, No inside Jokes to look for, No hidden Mickeys, NO CM'S THAT GO OUT OF THERE WAY TO MAKE IT MORE ENJOYABLE, and, for me, that doesnt thrill me, but rather turn me off to the park completely. Magic Kingdom has great thrilling attractions, plus Magic. Disney wouldnt be anything without that 5 letter word.

Now for the Mission:SPACE thing. Wait til some of the shows come out after October, and Mission:SPACE will be all over them. This links into the paragraph above, but MS is an experience never felt before in a Theme Park type junction. Its a new attraction, that I think, will do a total 180 degree spin for the better for Disney, Epcot, and Thrill rides in particular. Eisner let the budget go high, and look what resulted, maybe that will change there minds about future projects.

I personally enjoy visiting Universal and IOA more on my trip then the disney parks. For one there isn't as many children running me over with strollers that they should be sitting in. Also, the lines do not seem to be as long as disney, however it could be just the day I select to visit the park. But, to be honest whenever I take my vacation down there, I always stay in at the Disney Resort. To me the atmosphere is better, the reason being. Walt had enough forsite to purchase a massive amount of land to emerse guest fully in the disney product.
