Big Thunder River Run

In the shadows of @tcool123, here is a second raft ride which ties into the larger Big Thunder mythos. The underlying concept in both cases is a good one. This latest effort could have done more to distinguish itself from Big Thunder, and that includes the name. Ultimately this feels like a new ride system to explore the same thematic & narrative & literal grounds which Big Thunder Mountain Railroad already covers, which is a shame when the canvas is as epic as the American West.


Fearsome Critters Hunt

You know, this is almost exactly what I’d’ve done for this challenge! The Fearsome Critters are tailor made for Frontierland. Like Haunted Mansion, they’re a little silly, and a little scary. They’re comically absurd forest monsters invented as a joke by 19th century lumberjacks; they loom as large in folklore as Paul Bunyan or Pecos Bill.

It is incredibly gratifying to imagine these hilarious beasties reimagined in the Disney house style. The merchandising opportunities alone are innumerable…an area you let unsaid.

The ride is great too. Tokyo’s Ride & Go-Seek is simply the best “shooter” dark ride I’ve done. More Imagineering projects should take inspiration from it. This is family-friendly, non-thrill, not IP-based…it hits so, so, so many perfect notes.

To be fair, the prompt said to compliment Big Thunder Mountain, and that's literally what I did . The point of mine was to expand the mythos of the ride while exploring slightly different ground. Anyway, on to the next one!

This new addition to Hong Kong Disneyland celebrates life south of the border, with plenty of restaurants for those in need of a quick bite, an outdoor marketplace, fun attractions, and even a live show - all in a colorful, Mexico-inspired environment.

BONUS: A popular attraction in Tijuana Square is Volando Sobre Mexico With the Three Caballeros, a Peter Pan's Flight-esque dark ride in which Donald Duck, Jose Carioca, and Panchito Pistoles take you all over Mexico aboard a flying serape.

Baltic Square embraces and exemplifies the richer character and mood of other “Squares,” bringing an underrepresented culture to the forefront by exploring the crossroads between Central, East, and Northern Europe through ornate Brick Gothic architecture, ethnically varied cuisine, the regions roots in the incredible stories of Baltic Vikings, and an untapped backlog of whimsical folk tales.

Bonus: Vikings of the Amber Sea is a spiritual sister to Pirates of the Caribbean (think Mystic Manor vs Haunted Mansion), using Shanghai’s Pirate’s technology to bring to life the legendary tales of danger and adventure on the Baltic over a thousand years ago.

Take a step back in time and witness the glittering possibilities of science on display at Discovery Square, a 19th-century seaside town whose busy streets play host to a Scientific Exposition that showcases the potential of tomorrow as imagined by the scientists of yesterday!

Bonus: The Clockwork Palace brings guests of the Exposition face to face with the ingenuity of Prof. Wulfgang Sproketz, as his Automated Automobiles bring us on a dark ride tour through a brilliantly-designed mansion of steam power and clockwork.​

Harmony Square in Disneyland Paris focuses on a different type of evolution, the evolution of food preparation, Alcohol brewing, & last but not least, animal treatment, with attractions focusing on these topics, like a restaurant with all natural & healthy food options or one with a stupidly wide variety of wines that only a connoisseur of the beverage could truly enjoy, along with shows that showcase recent innovations in the topics at hand.​

Cape June

​

Serving as the transitioning point between Adventureland (with its colonial style buildings) and Eric’s Kingdom (with its seaside theme) in Fantasyland and also having an entrance close to the Castle Hub; Cape June is an expanded version of DisneySea’s Cape Cod; most of the activities that can be done here are admiring the beautiful Roaring Twenties set town and taking in the ambience, shopping and dining (including an all year round Christmas Shoppe, an ice cream and soda fountain, an old seafood restaurant on the waterfront that has a regular jazz band called the “Catch of the Day” (and a speakeasy in the basement) and a great boutique that boasts comfortable, cool, charming, and cozy clothing for just about everything) but also present are “The Citizens of Cape June”; a streetmostsphere show that occurs several times a day, a trackless boat ride nearly identical to Aquatopia with the biggest differences being that it’s not in the steampunk style and that it’s set up as a race between Mickey and Oswald, a spinner ride similar to Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree where a company of merfolk sing sea shanties to guests riding carriages pulled by little sea dragons inside a grotto on the outskirts of town, and a D ticket dark ride that would act as a maritime cousin to The Haunted Mansion in Liberty Square.
Bonus: Hauntings Beneath the Sea is a marriage between 20K Leagues Under The Sea’s dry for wet dark ride system and the Haunted Mansion’s balance between frightening and silly; with an addition of fascinating, as submarines take guests from the studies from the foreboding hall of the sea captain who sets them up for the voyage to explore an uncharted portion of the North Atlantic and into his private submarine base to the Leviathan’s nest and the ship graveyard; the latter being a resting place of some rather merry spirits who love to mess about with each other and some of the local sea life, as well as an intriguing and mesmerizing sea valley that is home to some merfolk; some of whom watch the subs go by on the ridge overlooking the sea floor.

This is the latest challenge. It includes an optional bonus challenge by @Pi on my Cake in case you want to do a little extra.

CHALLENGE EIGHT
NEW ORLEANS SQUARE & LIBERTY SQUARE

New Orleans Square was the first new land added to Disneyland after its 1955 opening. Highlights in this celebrated land included good food, themed stores, and the Haunted Mansion. Magic Kingdom would later open with the different – yet similar – Liberty Square, which too featured a Haunted Mansion along with original attractions to suit the new theme. This seemed like a new Castle Park tradition, but no additional “Squares” were ever created. (Tokyo Disneyland’s Adventureland includes a tiny New Orleans Square sub-land, which barely counts.)

Your task is to propose a new “Square” land for your Disney Castle Park.

Coming soon to Disney's California Adventure, located where Pixar Pier used to be is a brand new land, DESPICABLE SQUARE, a home for every Disney Villain ever, The center piece will be an all new E ticket ride with the facade of Maleficent's Castle called FANTASMIC!: NIGHTMARES UNLEASHED where riders board a trackeless vehicle and join Minnie Mouse as you team up to save classic Disney heroes from the most evil Villains from the Disney vault, the land will include unique eateries such as Gaston's Taven, Have a Poison Apple in the Haunted Forest cafe with the Evil Queen, Try some of Ursula's seafood at URSULA'S MOST UNFORTUNATE SOULS sit down restuarant, or Black Cauldron Stew a quick service restaurant, plus some fantasyland level brand new dark rides featured around Villains and their point of view such as Scar's Daring Plan, and Jafar's Magical Wish, also watch a brand new water night show ALL HALLOW'S EVE where the villains celebrate their greatest moments, the main entrance to the land will take on a trip down a familiar bridge where you may encounter the Headless Horseman, the 2nd entrance will ask if you are brave enough to enter an actual collapsing Cave of Wonders from Aladdin, so join us in summer 2025, if you are brave enough to enter with your eyes open HA HA HA HA HA HA.

Bridging Main Street USA to Adventureland, Havana Square brings the vivid colors, architecture, and landscape of the Caribbean Islands to Disneyland -- dine at authentic restaurants, shop at vibrant stores, and listen to the live music of the tropical steel drums!

BONUS: COLORS OF MUSIC
Celebrate the musical heritage of the Caribbean in this trackless dark ride, boarding colorful vintage cars (like the image above) as they "dance" through the many genres of Latin music, from salsa to ska to reggae, all through the beautiful island streets!​

I've felt the same way in the past. You start with something simple and suddenly you need a full paragraph just to explain all your ideas. That said, I think you did a good job despite having so much detail in condensing it down to a reasonable sentence -- there's been larger ones in the past!

AEGYPTUS SQUARE

Step into a time of uncovered ancient secrets and rumoured cursed tombs within Aegyptus Square, frozen in the 1920s where archaeological digs are all the rage; explore a traditional Cairo market of small shops, including Imhotep's Inventory, a technology and merchandise shop, named after Egypt's greatest architect; two major restaurants, the colonial bar Blue Parrot Club, and Wonders of the Nile, a bayside restaurant with an African and Mediterranean menu; a small museum of ancient Egyptian relics, fantastical streetmosphere including traditional African musicians specialising in roots revival, and storytellers who share the legends of the gods; and a signature indoor boat ride called The Voyage of Ra.

BONUS: THE VOYAGE OF RA -- Set within the Luxor Temple, guests descend down through an abandoned digsite into the Underworld, following the sun god Ra on his nightly journey of rebirth, onboard sun barges, encountering the deities of the depths, gigantic snakes, the spirits of the dead, and soul-devouring crocodile-headed god Sobek.

(I deliberately left out a location or transition, as I don't think this would fit in any existing castle park at the moment. If it was vital, I'd consider Shanghai possibly.)
