1 Day Enough?

My mother and I are going to WDW in July. We decided to take 1 day for Magic Kingdom, 1 day for EPCOT, 1 day for MGM, 1 day for Downtown Disney/R&R, and 2 days in ***cough cough uni cough versal cough*** I was reading the thread A Laid-Back Trek Through Magic Kingdom and people were saying that it is very hard to get MK done in one day (applause for my unintentional rhyme.) Is it possible for a hyperactive 13 year old and a ummm i forgot my moms age :lookaroun We aren't planning on really seeing any shows except for C.O.P. if it's open. Of course, I know more about Disney than her so I'll be like a tour guide to her. We usually skip right past Main Street in the morning and go back there at night for some chocolate covered rice krispie treats :slurp: :slurp: :slurp: :slurp: :slurp: We skip right pass Mickey's Toontown fair and all the meet and greets. We want some fast but good food. Does anyone have a plan for us or a map? I forgot! No parades except the one at the end of the day (maybe) but we like fireworks. Thanks a million.

im assuming you've been there before and im jealous that you're going back!

the past few times ive been back to disneyworld, they havent been long trips at all [about 3-4 days legnth] and my family has always done pretty well with seeing all the parks. [not bad for a seventeen year old with a mom in a wheelchair!]

my advice is to look around on websites and make a list of attractions that you want to see most - and hit those first. after you finish those, go back and see if you can get the other ones you missed. and take advantage of those fastpasses!

when we went, we did AK/MGM in one day because while both the parks have a lot going on - animals really arent too exciting to us and we got kind of bored. plus, i like mgm better.

i hope this helps out and disney can def. be done in a short amount of time!

Hi! Since I am pretty familiar with the parks, and know what I want to leave out, it is pretty easy to do all I need to at each park in a day. Since you're going in July though, it's going to be a lot more crowded and you may get worn out easier because of the heat. I would suggest getting the "Unofficial Guide to WDW." This book has really good tips and touring plans specifically for busier times of the year and helps you see everything. I have used this book numerous times and really liked all the tips and actually I just read it for fun sometimes even when I'm not going!

Obviously you wouldn't be able to see every attraction in one day. Lopping off Mickey's Toontown Fair will save a lot of time.
I would make a list of the attractions you definitely want to see and then get there early. You can probably narrow it down to 6 or 7 attractions that are must dos. Get there for the rope drop and you can get them done by 3:00. That will leave you an eternity to explore the rest of MK since the park will be open late in August.
Remember to use FastPass. Used wisely, it can save you a ton of time in the morning. For example, if you start your day with Splash Mountain, make sure you grab a FP for Jungle Cruise on your way through. This way when you get off Splash Mountain and Big Thunder, you will most likely be close to your FP window for JC so you can walk right on.

It is possible to see at least all of the major attractions in a day, in fact, I once did all 4 parks over a 2-day span. I'd take advantage of the early entry on the days it is offered at the certain parks. That can usually get you on 2-3 rides before things start to crowd up. Another good strategy is to get a fast pass for certain rides, and wait in line for others until your fast pass time arrives. A great example of this is to fast pass for the safari rides at Animal Kingdom (providing the lines are longer), and kill time on the walk-through safaris until it is your fast pass time. Or use fast pass for rides like Splash Mountain and wait in the faster moving lines, like Pirates otC or Haunted Mansion. Hope this helped.

I went this past July and yes it was very HOT and very crowded, here's what we did (2 adults, no children):

Arrived Sunday around noon:
-DisneyQuest
-Downtown Disney
-MGM & Fantasmic

Monday:
-Animal Kingdom (early entry)
-Typhoon Lagoon
-Magic Kingdom (from about 5 til close)

Tuesday:
-Blizzard Beach
-MGM to go on some rides again & shop
(left around 4pm)

we didn't have time to do epoct, b/c we did the waterparks.

We were sooo tired after those 3 days and had tons of blisters, but it was fun!

I don't see how you could possible do Epcot in one day. I usually feel like i need 3 days. I would rather make MGM a half day and use the remaining for Epcot. For example: go to Epcot in the morning till early afternoon and then head over to MGM, you have to do Fantasmic!

personally

I 've been to Mk for a 1 day trip and enjoyed it but felt rushed to do it all.


I personally feel to be comfortable and completely relaxed it takes 2 days.

I've done each park in one day. That's always the way I do it. Usually you have ample enough time to do each park in one day. Hahah when I went in August a few years ago I did MK, Epcot and MGM all in one day. But see I'm a Disney freak and now exactly what I want to do and what I don't want to do and how many times to do it. If you're nervous about it try to look on the maps online and plan it out. My friends mom used to plan everything out with time charts and a book. Hahaha...I just go and wing it. Good Luck and above all HAVE FUN! :sohappy:

Yes, you can do MK in a day. BUT - remember that its the start of summer, the park is busier and it depends on how much you want to do/see and what you're prepared to miss.
