Trip Report “Parents please supervise your children, and children please supervise your parents” 2018 Graduation Trip Report! *COMPLETE*

Well, it’s been three days, but I’m back from “The World”. Still trying to recover and catch up on sleep :hilarious:. I was pretty exhausted, but we had a great time! The Disney depression has officially kicked in, but I’m hoping this TR will help alleviate some of the pain.

For those of you who are just joining and are wanting to know the Who, When, Where, and Why, feel free to read my PTR!

https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/the-captain-is-headed-home.940164/

This is my first TR, and the bar was set pretty high for first timers (cough cough @becca_ cough cough). Seriously, if you haven’t read her first TR, you need to! Anyways, I hope everyone bears with me and enjoys the 2,000+ pictures that I made, along with this TR! :)

Up next: Travel Day!

Arriving at AK

As usual from the ALL-Stars, the bus ride to AK was fast. By the time I got through security, it was just after 9, so I missed morning EMH, but I still had 13 hours.

Totally digging the 20th anniversary banners.

The line to get in was kind of long, mostly because the park had just opened to the public, but I eventually made it through.

Absolutely love the yellow and blue macaws.

Once I got to Discovery Island, I had to take some time to awe in it’s beauty.

After gazing at the Tree of Life for awhile, I decided to check wait times and saw that DINOSAUR was only 15 mins, so I began to head towards Dinoland.

I passed Flame Tree on the way, and the smell of smoked bbq filled the air. It smelled so freaking good! Needless to say, it was making me hungry!

I made it to DINOSAUR and the standby line was almost stretching out of the building! So I looked at the app and saw that EE and Kali were both down. That was obviously the explanation for the long line. I decided to walk over to Asia anyways to see what was going on.

Had to grab a quick pic of Sue on the way out of the Dino Institute.

While I was heading to Asia, I got a text from L saying that the room was ready, so they were going to move the car and put some stuff in the room then head on over.

I walked over to Everest, and all was quiet.

There were some CMs hanging around outside of the entrance informing guests that EE was down (obviously), and they weren’t sure when it would be back up. I heard one of the CMs say something about “technical issues”, so that could of been anything. I hoped that no one tried to switch the yeti from B to A mode :hilarious:.

I noticed the RoL seating area was right across from Everest, so I decided to duck in and check out the view.

I thought they did a good job and everything looked nice. It also looked as if there is a good bit of seating.

After a few minutes of wondering what I should do next, I thought it would be best to head on over to Africa, since our KS FPs were coming up soon.

L texted me and said they were waiting on a bus and they’d be here soon, so it was time for the first official attraction of the trip!

Yes, this is an attraction, so it counts :hilarious:. I still want to call it the Pangani Forest.

I ended up rushing through Gorilla Falls because right as I was making my way through the bird area, L texted me and said that she and M had arrived and were making their way through the front gates. We agreed to meet in front of KS.

The only pictures that I took were from the gorilla enclosure.

There was a massive crowd of people that gathered up to the glass to watch these guys go at it

They were so funny to watch! They basically kept putting each other in headlocks and were rolling all over the ground. I apologize if the pictures are poor quality, but they’re just screenshots from the video I made.

The crowd began to grow larger and I thought I was gonna suffocate in that tiny viewing area, so I headed on over to KS to meet M and L.

I met up with M and L around 10:15. Our FPs window was from 9:55-10:55, so it was time to go on a safari!

I challenged myself to try to not take a million pictures :hilarious:.

We waited for like 10 mins and then we were off!

Our guide (can’t remember his name) was kind of meh. Let’s just say he wasn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer ;).

None of the crocodiles were out either. Our guide said they were having their annual health inspection and that it takes about 2 months to thoroughly inspect every croc, so they wouldn’t be back out until some point in June.

Nice pictures of the giraffes! When I was on KS 2 weeks ago, I heard the lion roar--that was fun! :cat: It's only happened twice (in my visits, since AK opened).
Haha thanks! The giraffes on KS never fail to put on a show.

I'm sooo jealous you got to hear the lions roar! That's awesome! I've only heard them once on KS, but it was more of a growl. Your best chance is on the evening/nighttime safaris.

By the time we got off KS, it was already 11. I didn’t really eat any breakfast so I was pretty hungry. M and L wanted to grab a cup of coffee and I wanted to get something to eat, so we walked over to one of my favorites, Kusafiri.

Since it was just past 11, they had stopped serving their breakfast sandwiches, but they continued to serve croissants and the colossal cinnamon roll. I thought about getting the colossal cinnamon roll, but I didn’t want anything sweet. Plus, that thing is massive! (hence the name)

While we were waiting in line, we encountered this
B699B1E0-5611-40F1-9A77-4EA276C46226.png

Can someone tell me what’s wrong with this picture?!

We ran into this family 3 more times and the GROWN ADULT woman was still riding in the stroller glued to her phone!!

This is a case of I’m lazy and don’t want to act my age. It’s because of parents like this, that today’s youth have become, well, today’s youth.

Ok Berkley, that’s enough ranting :hilarious:.

Anyways, it was our turn to order, and I decided to go ahead and get an early lunch. After much deliberation, do to the many good sounding sandwiches on the menu, I ended up getting the ham and cheese panini with rotisserie ham, comte cheese and sweet mustard butter on ciabatta.
8F94280F-19A3-45DF-88FC-B921848CAF0B.jpeg

The picture doesn’t do it justice, but it was very large.

The panini was fantastic! Nice and hot! I think the comte cheese blended very well with the sweet mustard butter and the ham. And the ciabatta was perfectly grilled.

Of course, no sandwich from Kusafiri would be complete without those delicious house-made curry spiced chips. I’m serious, they’re the best! And this is coming from a guy who usually hates anything that’s spiced with curry. I love getting them each trip.

We grabbed a table over at the Dawa Bar for a few minutes so I could finish eating. It began to mist rain, but soon stopped. When I had finished the panini, it was time for our 2nd FP, so I checked the app and Kali was up and running!

On to Asia!

Next up: Kali!

I laughed out loud when I saw the picture of the woman riding IN the stroller! Good grief, what is wrong with people?!

About the cinnamon roll -- I saw those, too, and could not believe the size! Certainly enough for two people. However, I had been at the park since 7:20 AM one morning (mad dash over to FOP, etc.) and I was hungry, as I had only grabbed a few crackers and coffee when I left the hotel for a 7 AM bus. So I was passing by there, and it was either have a huge roll or nothing, so I ended up buying one. (Yah . . . I finished it . . . :hilarious: )

Haha, everything I think.

It was so tempting to get, but I passed. Something to look forward to next time!

I cannot believe that woman... omg...
Unfortunately, stuff like that no longer surprises me. It's sad, but it sure does provide us with some great entertainment! :hilarious:

My husband wouldn't patiently push my grown, healthy self in a child's stroller that's for sure LOL :D I think my Mom stopped allowing me in a stroller when I was 5 or so. Once I was big enough to walk, there was no more nice stroller for me lol.
