GLORIOUS!

Please, please be good. And if it is, please refer to this as Disney's Alien in the same way all the detractors point out the the Disney part when they dislike the treatment of an acquired IP, but oddly not when they like it.
I’ve happily referred to it as Disney’s best looking movie in years because I find it absolutely hilarious that they’ve fumbled everything else BUT a movie that’s not made for their main demographic :)

Okay, guess I was the only one who was... unimpressed... by the trailer.

It felt as repetitive and familiar as The First Omen which I just sat through and was surprisingly disappointed by (how do you make a bad Omen movie?!).

I'll probably watch this on streaming someday though.

just caught a matinee showing if romulus. i actually liked it better than prometheus & covenant. found the ending a bit tedious, but overall, a much better addition to the series.

I saw Alien Romulus last night. While not the best Alien movie, it was definitely the scariest. I liked it better than Prometheus and Alien Covenant.

Just got home from seeing it. The first 30-40 was great. It went downhill from there.

There was no need for it to turn into a terrible parade of fan service pandering. No need for terrible CGI Ian Holm, black goo, "Get away from here you B", Engineers, human hybrid, pulse rifles, getting ready to sleep "surprise", android messing with DNA, "I can't lie to you about your chances...", etc.

Had it stayed it's own self contained story it could have been great, instead it went from one of the better movies I had seen this year to one of the bigger disappointments.

It was Alien: The greatest hits collection…but what do I Know… I was one of the few who like Prometheus for trying something different

Yep, the over the top fan service really pulled me out of it at times. It also didn't need a 4th act.

However, I also liked Prometheus for the most part.

More accurately I should say it grew on me over time. I'm still not a huge fan of parts of the story but it was a very well put together movie and visually stunning outside of some terrible aged Guy Pearce effects. I'll still pop it into the 4k player now and then and get sucked right in.

I thought the last 20 minutes wer the most interesting and where it felt like it went in a really new and exciting direction.

I have seen all of the Alien movies and prequels but only about once or twice each so I likely missed a lot of the callbacks that annoyed some fans.

I saw this elsewhere so can't claim credit but it really does feel like this was The Force Awakens of the Alien universe.

looks like it pulled in $41.5 million here in the US, & with world wide #’s, it made over $100 million. let’s see how it holds in the next few weeks.
