Where is the pink on SM?

I couldn't agree more. But the way they see it- spending that little bit extra won't bring in any more money, so why bother?

This has to be one of the best renovations Disney has done in decades. It is actually more fitting to the theme was also looking current and classy. I particularly love the rock walls and ceiling mural, which bring me some of that old-school Disney feeling.

I think because guests are going to be viewing the new ice castle from a distance, the clear/blue plastic versions would end up just looking like a white or blue blob. I think it was necessary to paint in highlights and shadows to give the castle dimension. I do hope at night that the new castle...

It's not unreasonable for folks to be concerned given the many recent eyesores/additions in the parks.

I'm comparing it directly to the concept art and the paint treatment looks almost identical. The 'cockpit' or center portion of the ship is mostly yellow which is what we are seeing in the concept. The fins are blue with yellow tips.

Sort of a random question - but since it's been about 18 months or so - does anyone think the pink/rose gold paint on the castle has faded at all? I remember right after it was repainted some folks (myself included) were thinking if it faded a bit it wouldn't be so....well.....ugly.

I think the new Key West lobby looks ok but I wish they could have kept (or replaced) the plants and mural.

I get that - what I was suggesting that if anything the lighting should be dimmer and just more blue. That would make reflections even less of an issue than they currently are.

This may be a minor detail to some, but for me the absence of the dim-glowing blue lighting in the dining room is very disappointing. It's one of the things that really screamed futuristic/space, and without it I think the atmosphere is really lacking.

I've never ridden Rat but I've seen countless POV youtube videos of it. I think the biggest issue for me, is the trend of dark rides that have 0 animatronics (I don't count animatronics in the queue). It just makes the ride feel lifeless and cheap.

It would be such a shame if they don't do this! Here's hoping :)

That is a big part of the problem, though I also think the castle lacks enough small, fine architectural detail work. When compared to the Tokyo version of the Beast's castle the Florida version is too simplistic.

Not to go too off-topic, but what exactly did they change in the 2017 refurb? I've been on before and after that year and didn't notice anything.

I like that they are removing the gear pavement, since I think it no longer fits with most of the 'look' of the land. I just wish they had replaced it with something with a little interest, a wide gray and blue stripe would have been nice. Minimal and clean doesn't have to be boring.
