Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

I figured one of the reasons it wasn't approved was it was too Sci-Fi for EPCOT Center. That coaster ride version sounds interesting though.

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Thanks for replying, I think it is too bad most of the original Future World attractions had to be replaced. I guess it was to make the park more relevant, but those original rides had so much character and personality and uniqueness to them. I never knew Tony pitched an Alien type ride for...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Eddie, since you worked on Mission Space, was there ever a reason given for tearing out Horizons? Sorry if somebody already brought this up.

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Eddie, I am a huge Knott's fan in addition to being a Disney fan, and I was wondering about an attraction you designed called Rumrunners, that never came to fruition. I heard you talk about it before but I have never heard more than just the name and its location. Is there anything more you...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

I also can never pick favorites. But I will admit that no other theme park that I've seen, besides the original Ghost Town and Roaring 20's at Knott's Berry Farm, will ever match the atmosphere Disney is able to create. Each land has its own feeling, whether it is adventure, or discovery, or...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

I couldn't agree more with this. I do like Universal, but sometimes they don't get the full picture. Some of the rides are amazing, but the queues need some work, and at other times it's the other way around. Harry Potter is an example of an attraction that really a the full package. I do hope...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

^Even though I have never been to Islands of Adventure, the only other theme I see that links all the themes together is literature, or some form of it. Each is themed on something you would read, examples :Jurassic Park (novel), Toon Lagoon (comic strips), Marvel Island (graphic novels), Harry...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

I think it was because budget and the climate in Paris, but I would like to hear Edddie's perspective.

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

It would be amazing. It could happen since the only Six Flags park close to there is Six Flags over Georgia. So they could secure the rights. Actually I heard that Six Flags has to pay per park for the licenses and it doesn't have a franchise wide license, so maybe its easier to get the rights...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

If Disney gets Universal to sell the Marvel rights back to Disney, DC Comics are the biggest rumor. And the big rumor there is Batman replacing the Spiderman ride, which would be really neat.

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Eddie, I was just on the Neverland files reading up on Sci-Fi City at Tokyo Disneyland. It said you were the designer for it, I was wondering if you could tell us a little more about that project, like how you came up with it, and what the OLC executives thought about the project, and why it...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

I've heard that he was very tough. Don't blame you for being intimidated :animwink:. I never knew that he had a little bit of input on the DLP color schemes, that's pretty interesting. That's neat that he had influence on you, seeing pictures of how amazing the colors look at Main Street in DLP...

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

^ Eddie, I would love to hear some John Hench stories. He had a great sense of how to use color. Thanks for posting the article.

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

I wouldn't jump the gun by saying Harry Potter is the dark ride of the 10's. I think Disney could create something ground breaking or spectacular within the next few years.

^ That's a funny story Eddie. From the pictures I could see the resemblance to the Plaza Gardens. Thanks for sharing.

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Thanks for replying back. I do try to study, as much as possible, the usage of colors. I have the Designing Disney book that John Hench wrote and it helped me out a lot figuring out how color relates to an audience.

Eddie Sotto's take on the current state of the parks

Hi Eddie, first time poster long time lurker. I have a question for you. I am in High School right now (Home School) and I have always wanted to be an Imagineer since I was about six or seven years old. I can draw very well, but I (as of now) can't paint very well. I hope to become a show or...
