tips for 1st and only trip! - coming from australia

My advice is to get your sleep. Be alright with not seeing everything. If we have a late night, we sleep in (or vise versa). This is especially important for little ones. Over tired and over stimulated is a recipe for a melt down.

    Beach Club!

We were originally planning on BC this summer, but I decided on Copper Creek instead. My son was disappointed. When I asked why, he said he really wanted to go back to Beaches & Cream. So, we will be going there on an Epcot day! When we stayed there last, we enjoyed eating dinner in Epcot on...

What counts as a soft sided cooler?

I put water bottles in the refrigerator. So, they are cold, but not frozen. I use an insulated pouch w/o anything else (mine is Thirty-One brand, but I don't think they make it anymore). The pouch fits 4 water bottles, slides right into a backpack, and doesn't add extra weight (aside from the...

    Trip planning started last night

I am making plans for my June trip right now. I love planning! I booked this trip last summer, but I am thinking about it with these MN temps we have today! It is supposed to dip down to -30 overnight, but tomorrows high will bring us up to almost 0! (Sunday has a high of 45 in the forecast -...

How often do you go to Disney?

We went every year until a couple of years ago. Now it is every other year for at least 2 weeks. We are DVC members and live in MN. Our next trip is this summer for 16 nights.

Worst Disney World hotel experience thread

I have had both basic and advanced first aid and CPR training. That is why I was fully prepared with a large first aid kit (along with a small one for the park bag). It wasn't hospital worthy. It was on the sky bridge from the Contemporary to BLT after the shops were closed, so really no CMs...

Worst Disney World hotel experience thread

We have had one bad experience. We checked in on the opening day of BLT. The sensors above the automatic doors weren’t set right. It didn’t stop for my 7 yo son and the door took the toenail of his big toe off. It was late and he was screaming and bleeding. I travel with a full first aid kit. We...

Describe your top 2 or 3 top DVC resort please

Bay Lake Tower is my favorite. PROS: Location! - You can walk to MK. Monorail access to MK, EP, Poly, GF. Boat to WL and FW. (So, great access for shopping, dining, and other activities). Extra Bathroom - The 1 bdrm has 2 full baths, the 2 bdrm has 3. CONS: Small Studios High points EITHER...

    8 Days or 10 Days?

I'd definitely pick the longer trip! POFQ is a nice resort.

    Best backpack for WDW?

I think the Osprey is a good choice. My husband has a small Osprey that we bring to WDW with us. Reading details from Osprey, "Mesh-covered back panel has slotted foam for ventilation and breathability". Husband swears it is cooler and more comfortable than a regular backpack. We have a separate...

    DVC perks on DCL

For most members, they seem to know you are onboard. One day we came back to our cabin and saw that many doors had a DVC magnet. We didn't have one. I stopped at the desk and they apologized and gave us one. We also got some ball caps and lanyards. They said that sometimes people can be excluded...

    Pulling kids from school?

Where we live, a vacation is an 'excused' absence. So, any time a parent notifies the school that the child will be out (for any reason) is an excused absence. My kids are both in high school now, but they will still miss a day or two for our vacations. The airlines know the school calendar; I...

    Dining Window - help!

Not to sound too 'help desk', but did you try logging out and logging back in again?

How many points did you purchase?

We just added on, so I’ll share something I was told. You may already know this, but I never thought about it before. When adding on they looked at our current contract to make sure it was titled the same. If it is not, they need to creat a new membership number. Consequently, you can’t pool the...

How many points did you purchase?

200 at BLT when they opened. Just added 300 at CCV!

    Financing vs. Purchasing Upfront

I did finance my first contract. I based the decision purely on the amount I would be paying per year (loan + dues). The total was less than my room would cost with cash. However, with hindsight factored in, I think it turned out to be a pretty good deal. We bought direct at BLT when they were...

How does FP+ work with a split stay?

I have two reservations in August. First a 1-night stay on cash, followed by 13-nights on DVC points. I was able to make all of my FP+ reservations at 60 days from the check-in of the 1-nights stay.

Making Fastpasss reservations with Annual Pass

It is not the same as dining reservations. We stayed at AKV last year for 15 nights with our AP. I was able to book all of the days at 60 days from check-in. This year we have a split stay (I booked the first night for cash and the rest of the stay on points). It is 14 nights total. We don't...
