    Disney Insists on Train Stop

Bush stinks <rant> That's exactly what has happened. Jeb has sabotaged the entire process directly against the will of the voters and in defiance of the state constitution (the rail initiative was a constitutional amendment). That's why I can't stand Jeb and his "devious plans". It’s like the...

    Disney Insists on Train Stop

As someone who lives in Central Florida, I have several observations. 1) I will never have any use for a train (high-speed or otherwise) that goes to Tampa. 2) I will never ride a train from the airport to Disney. I live 20 minutes away and see no reason why I wouldn't drive my car. 3)...

    M:S weightlessness!

Thanks Andy. I can't wait for this ride to open! Then everyone will know what its all about and no explanations will be necessary. Are they going to let people camp out like they did for California Adventure? If so, I'll show up like a week early! :D

    M:S weightlessness!

The Pods themselves will be attached to the end of an arm so they won't spin in circles like say, the Mad Tea Cups. Instead, think of, well...hmmm. I can't think of any other ride to compare it to because there aren't any. Disney is really on the bleeding edge with this one. Try to imagine...

    M:S weightlessness!

They can't simulate true weightlessness but they can simulate apparent weightlessness. A person in a centrifuge only feels a force (centripital force) pulling on them in a direction opposite the direction towards the axis. That is, they only feel a force pulling them back as they face the...

    Theft at Walt Disney World

I believe the area it was taken from is near where all of Disney's greenhouses and horticulture areas are...you know, where they grow those cool bushes that look like dancing hippos and the like. Anyway, this area is not restricted and is freely accessible if you know you way around Disney...

    Indiana Jones Rumor

Not sure if everyone realizes this or not but Dinosaur is the exact same ride as Indy, just themed differently. Even the track layout is the same, except I think I read somewhere that Dinosaur is slightly shorther than Indy. But it's essentially the same ride.

    Disney Mall

There's a new mall opening (Mall at Millennia) this fall right across I-4 from Universal. It’s very upscale with the likes of Macys, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, etc. With the Florida Mall (practically right down the street from the new mall), and Belz Factory Outlet, I think South Orlando is...

    Epcot Closed Today! (7/17)

The fact that the thing has been there for 20 years and decided to blow up yesterday is just more reason to believe something unusual was afoot. If you add up the power requirements for TT and MS, I'm sure it's much higher than WoM or Horizons were, which is what that transformer was designed...

    Epcot Closed Today! (7/17)

I'm sure they did extensive planning but ultimately the only way to test it is to throw the switch. It just seems to me to be too much of a coincidence that the power unit that failed is directly behind MS. :animwink:

    Epcot Closed Today! (7/17)

The blinking red lights on objects 200 feet or taller must be on ALL the time, day or night. They're not designed to be turned off at all and they actually have a battery backup, kinda like exit signs, so if the power goes out, the blinking red light stays on. The wand is 257 feet tall and is...

    Epcot Closed Today! (7/17)

All power lines use circuit breakers. Really big ones use circuit breakers that you have to prime first, kinda like a pump, to power up a relay that then actually throws the breaker. As far as testing the power grid goes, they would obviously have to do this at some point in the process...

    Epcot Closed Today! (7/17)

News13 reports the substation is located just to the east of Epcot. Also, they report park officials now say they are planning on being open tomorrow. :)

    Epcot Closed Today! (7/17)

Just heard on the local news that Epcot will be closed for the rest of today with no word on if it will be open tomorrow or not. :(

    Walt Disney World Airport

About OIA McCoy Air Force Base was opened in the 50s as a SAC (Strategic Air Command) base. It operated until the 70s when the government sold it to the city of Orlando for $1 in 1975 and was renamed Orlando International Airport (OIA) in 1976. OIA is still referred to by its old airport...

    Steering

UoE as well as GMR still use the wire guide. It is much more precise than the pucks. If one of these 30,000 lb monsters were to veer off track by even an inch, very bad things would happen. The pucks are used on the parade routes to trigger the soundtrack/effects on the floats and keep them...

    Horizons Demolition

Its called the Winter Park sinkhole (cause its in the city of Winter Park) and its now a good sized lake. I was only 10 years old and had just moved to Orlando when that thing opened up. It swallowed a house, part of an import car dealership including 5 Porsches, the deep end of a swimming...
