Disneyland 70th Anniversary Thread - Wishlist, Rumors, Speculation, Announcements

They just announced a new commemorative book for the 70th so at least that's one thing that will make me happy as a parks book collector.

Return to Disneyland After 13 Years Away.

Great to hear you enjoyed your visit and great pics. I think that a lot of the magic gets lost on people that visit too frequently though some may find it hard to admit given it can become a bit of an addiction. Yours is the perfect example of absence allowing the heart to grow fonder, where...

    The Merch Alert Thread

No. Just walk up to the outside window or sit at the outside bar and order there. That's where we got the ones I picked up for friends out of state. I would go very soon as they are getting low on stock, may only last the next day or two.

Very sorry to hear this. Rest in Peace David. 😭

    The Merch Alert Thread

It's always a cluster at 6am. You just have to keep trying, folks were refreshing at 8am and still getting pickup times. I don't do the mobile order anymore, I just go when they are on sale at the bar. Disney generally releases around 5000 mugs each time but this time they only did just over...

I think the mug looks great, just not what I want from Trader Sam's. I prefer more traditional tiki mugs but it's clear that ship has sailed. Less tiki, more tie ins to attractions with a Sam's name on it.

    The Merch Alert Thread

New mug coming to Trader Sam's on June 20th to celebrate the 65 anniversary of the Matterhorn. Retail is $75. As a longtime collector of Sam's mugs, this might be the first I skip as it's clear that those in charge no longer have any interest in producing new "Tiki" mugs per se due to concerns...

    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

Beat me to it. While I didn't know him personally, I had a love/hate relationship with his articles. I respected his goal to always hold Disney to a higher standard and share his insider information. But at the same time, I started going to the parks with probably a far too critical eye where...

What attraction does the loss of Splash Mountain compare to for older generations?

Yep, far worse than anything they've done with Splash/Tiana.

What attraction does the loss of Splash Mountain compare to for older generations?

As someone who started going to Disneyland in 1970, I've seen so many things removed that it's hard to pick something. Quite honestly, while I liked Splash, I really don't have any dramatic take about the horror of it going away and being replaced by Tiana. But, if I were going to pick some...

I love when one of my YT videos gets shared here :p

I don't know if there is really a reason for them to knock out the ESPN and Rainforest buildings as it won't add a ton of space for park expansion/entry and it would provide more options for that end BUT, I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually get removed.

Disneyland Fantasmic Dragon Engulfed in Flames

The reality is that folks on this board are going to be far more demanding or critical of the current Fantasmic. Most of the guests that are packing the area and spending ridiculous amounts for prime seating don't care. They are just happy it's back.

Disneyland Fantasmic Dragon Engulfed in Flames

Your "There is a thread for that" would have been fine. The "not the place" was not necessary. Keep in mind that a lot of people in the Disneyland thread don't visit the WDW threads. I was only pointing out that there was a new show but appreciate you policing the board for us.

Not to hijack the thread but if you haven't see the Disney Dreams that Soar show at Disney Springs that debuted tonight...very cool.

Speaking of Planet Hollywood, I will say that the Cap'n Crunch Chicken with their honey mustard dipping sauce is the best chicken fingers I've ever had.

    All things Knotts Berry Farm

Very cool. Did not know they had live cams. Very quiet at the parks right now.

Yeah, the wait was far too long for us to get a cookie but I heard great things about it. Would be welcome here. I figured we'd get a Chicken Guy here but I think Disney is focused on more sit down locations vs fast food-like locations. BTW, Chicken Guy was completely overrated. Daughter...

Would You Take a Bullet Train from Anaheim to Las Vegas?... Brightline West

I grew up in Torrance, my family and friends that lived in Rancho Palos Verdes used to call it Rancho PV.

I'm surprised nobody moved in there but it is a pretty massive building that I believe they have been using for other purposes. I would not be surprised if it gets bulldozed at some point, same with the Rainforest Cafe building.
