    "Pete's Dragon" Remake

What I want is for Robert Redford's character to be obsessed with "the dragon who saved my grandfather Peter", that as a kid he caught a glimpse of Elliot after hearing the story and has been searching ever since. Then after years of nothing and being mocked by his peers, BOOM, this kid is...

The Rescuers - The Last Great Disney Film until The Little Mermaid?

This week we watched 1977's The Rescuers. I hadn't seen this one before, and it is incredibly charming! The 70s soundtrack is kind of amazing, maybe because it reminds me of the music my mom would play? Penny is the best "damsel in distress" for, even though she is in a bad situation, she...

The Rescuers is next, so we're hitting the 80s and the almost death of the Walt Disney Company, so it's going to be interesting to see how things go. Also, we were both born in the 80s, so we're entering very familiar territory, so it is going to be interesting on how those memories and feelings...

Now that we've gotten past Walt's death, you can see an immediate decline in the quality of the work. There is also a loss of direction for the films. They always seemed to build upon one another, but the last few have definitely been spotty.

so far, I was very surprised with the high quality of the earliest films. Pinocchio has become my new favorite Disney movie. Some childhood nostalgia holds up, but the big ones ie Bambi's Mom, have much less effect on me, than say Trusty being hit by the carriage in Lady and the Tramp.

Take a stroll through the 100 Acre Woods on this week's Opening the Vault!

The animation quality is definitely starting to dip, but the charm of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh can not be denied. It is for sure a children's movie, but I can fully appreciate why tiny me loved this movie.

The Aristocats, Overwhelminglly Charming with an Unfortunate Stain of Racism

Oh, that's cool, I had only heard about Marie. Glad the other two get some of the limelight!

The Aristocats, Overwhelminglly Charming with an Unfortunate Stain of Racism

We've heard about that, apparently the Japanese are CRAZY for Marie!? Of all the little ones, why not Tulouse or Berlioz?

China Rolls Out ‘Emergency Teams’ to Knock Out Disney Knockoffs as Shanghai Disney approaches

Maybe this will help curb the insane amount of knockoffs in Pin Trading?

    Tattoos?!?

They used to be very draconian, "no extreme hair styles" which can mean anything really, and "no facial hair" which has since changed. Here you go: "The Disney Look includes but is not limited to, the following requirements: Male and Female Body Alteration Intentional body alteration or...

    Renewing Annual pass issue.

hmmm, that is shady. I would suggest contacting Disney about the issue. There is probably contact info on the renewal page.

The Aristocats, Overwhelminglly Charming with an Unfortunate Stain of Racism

This week we watched The Aristocats! I hadn't seen this one before, but it is among Jess Top 10! Overall, I really enjoyed this one, it is oozing with charm and character. I would rank it in my Top 5, but unfortunately the stain of racism makes you cringe through one of the best Disney songs!

    Saludos Amigos Review

We really enjoyed Saludos Amigos, especially the mixing of the live action animator trip to South America. Can't wait for you to see Three Cabelleros, it's a mess! LOL Here's our review

A bunch of spotted dogs and a contest to win a limited edition print on Opening the Vault!

This one is really interesting as it used new processes and was on a strict budget after Sleeping Beauty's box office failure. To me, it truly represents innovation in the face of limitation. Also, we're having a contest! Win a Limited Edition Disney print with certificate of authenticity! The...

Narcolepsy, a grudge over not being invited to a party, and fairies on this week's Opening the Vault

Sleeping Beauty is a beloved classic, and while we find it quite pretty, I can't really say that it is Disney's Best... Still, we had a lot of fun poking at its weak spots and celebrating its charms.

Cinderella or How I learned to have patience and love the mouse

This week we watched Cinderella. It's a classic. Everyone has seen it. But upon our rewatch we discover that not everything people bring up regarding Cinderella is accurate.

Toad Hall (A Downton Abbey/Disney Mashup)

While making our 'Ichabod and Mr. Toad' episode, I thought about a mashup of Toad & Downton. I think it turned out well, and I hope you enjoy it!

A Toad driven mad with Motor Mania and a Man who possibly looses his head!

This week we watched the final package film, 'Icabod and Mr. Toad'. These two pieces couldn't be more different, and putting them together was rather strange. One of them holds up, one of them does not. Come along with us on this week's Opening the Vault!
