News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

Weird leap to “raving lunatic,” but ok - FWIW I hate the look of these tower monstrosities but would be happy to do some strength training in that fitness room.

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

Just a picture on another site (no imminent plans to be in Orlando), but that was the verbiage within the fitness center. Would really be something for a ‘deluxe’ Poly guest to test out.

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

I’m not thinking about the distance, have actually used the GF gym from a Poly studio (pre-Island Tower, so on the far side of the resort). But the GF’s fitness room is kind of dinky in comparison. This looks so much nicer and could have been a cool consolation prize for the Poly overall.

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

Compared to all the deluxe-DVC hybrids that came before (including some with fitness rooms in the DVC wing), it’s a seemingly small deviation that demonstrates some real contempt for the non-villa guests.

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

Seriously, it would be such a small carrot to offer, with guests in the original longhouses now making up a fraction of guests at the Poly. I could understand the tiny pool being exclusive to the DVC side, but not a (relatively) palatial fitness space at a resort that seriously longed for one...

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

The signage explicitly specifies “guests staying at the Disney Vacation Club of Disney’s Polynesian Villas.” If that’s truly enforced, it’s quite a slap in the face.

News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

Coming out of lurk mode for a comment I haven’t seen yet: Did they really add a decent-looking fitness center to the Polynesian, on the ground floor for everyone to see, then specify that it’s only for the DVC side? If I were a cash-paying guest in a ‘deluxe’ room, I would be so ticked.

EPCOT Amani Village Traders in EPCOT's World Showcase gets a new look with vibrant murals

Personally I'm glad they look newer - while the distressed look works super well in Animal Kingdom's Africa and Asia, I think it can also be said that in this modern age of travel (influenced more by the likes of influencers and social media), many more African tourism spots are on the map...

EPCOT Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind attraction confirmed for Epcot

Not gonna lie, I’m jealous of your ratio! Disco Inferno is also a lot of fun.

EPCOT Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind attraction confirmed for Epcot

My ride count is 16; I believe this is the number of times I've gotten each: Everybody Wants to Rule the World x5 September x3 One Way or Another x3 Disco Inferno x2 Conga x2 I Ran x1 As for favorites, I'm officially Team Conga (so upbeat and danceable), while my least favorite is Everybody...

EPCOT Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind Standby Line and Lightning Lane status

Thanks for the updates as always! A lot of notable stoppages today, and it seems to be down right now - really hoping it’s back in time for After Hours.

    SPOILER: Live-Action The Little Mermaid

That’s totally fair, the turtle brigade was a strange choice - it’s the part directly after that I wasn’t expecting and found really fun.

    SPOILER: Live-Action The Little Mermaid

One more thing I liked, relative to expectations: Under the Sea. Have seen it getting ragged for not being as magical as the original, and of course it wasn't going to be. But I never expected to see fish playing instruments during the bridge, and the dance breakdown before the final chorus...

Disney's Live Action The Little Mermaid

Typically analysts are able to project the full weekend numbers by the time Sunday morning rolls around. Sometimes they’re from the studio, that’s what Deadline is indicating. The numbers may fluctuate slightly, but this should be the ballpark.

Disney's Live Action The Little Mermaid

I found quite a bit to enjoy, but still - Halle is the driving force of why this one's enjoyable, with Ariel and Eric's improved chemistry also up there. Another big thing I'd add: the soundtrack doesn't suck. In fact, it's extremely listenable, because they went with talent that could actually...

Disney's Live Action The Little Mermaid

In looking at some of the discussions that have popped up on Reddit (yikes), I’m seeing a wide range of observations, many of which are unfortunate: “The movie just sucks” (from people who clearly haven’t seen it) Asian audiences prefer lighter skin tones Asian viewers are fine with black...

    SPOILER: Live-Action The Little Mermaid

A change to Triton I disliked was the moment after he destroys the grotto collection. In the original, there’s a brief but noticeable look of sadness on his face, before he shakes it off and leaves. We don’t see him for a long time afterward, so it sets up his “what have I done?” moment. I...

    SPOILER: Live-Action The Little Mermaid

Not going to break down everything, but something I enjoyed about this one was seeing Ariel and Eric's relationship more fleshed out. We lose the comedic aspects of their first meal together, but instead see them bond over their shared curiosity and longing to explore. During Kiss the Girl...

    Disney Live-Action* Remakes**

The Little Mermaid's RT score might still fluctuate, but seeing it fare worse than Beauty and the Beast with critics is proof of fatigue if I've ever seen it. That movie was so lackluster, with the highlights literally being the trailer and the bona fide opera star. Seriously, watching that...
