WOW - What a week at WDW

It would depend on the tips earned. I neglected to say tips in that portion of my post. Another way to say this is to say that tipped employees have to earn at least min wage, but a portion of their tips can be counted as wages. So if $12 is the min wage in FL, then the restaurant can only...

WOW - What a week at WDW

There seems to be a good deal of confusion about how tipped employees are paid. I will try to clarify. The national min wage for tipped employees is 7.25, but it is higher in most states, and typically they earn well above that amount most days. The FL min is $12/hour. (Orlando might be...

WOW - What a week at WDW

IMO, fast casual and kiosk ordering are the next generation in dining. A big reason we much prefer them is because food orders are far more accurate. In that sense, we consider it the next generation of dining.

WOW - What a week at WDW

Having worked as a restaurant server, walking out with money in my pocket was one of the things I loved about the job, but that was back when most people paid in cash. Nowadays, I'm inclined to say the tipping system is broken. During the pandemic, I could see adding a tip to some carry out...

    Prices up…profits down…

You asked why resort only stays aren't more popular at WDW. My answer is to say the Orlando area has a slew of nice hotels at better prices. I'm comparing those specific two because (I think) SF is a nicer hotel than CR. And those two just popped in my head. SFalls is much newer, has a much...

    Prices up…profits down…

It is hard to justify the pricing for a resort-only stay at WDW these days, when there are so many great options in Orlando that cost less. I mean, not to get into comparing the two, but when it comes to hotels, Universal's Sapphire Falls costs hundreds less/night, and has a considerably...

    Prices up…profits down…

Topolino's for dinner was one of few meals we felt was worthwhile. At least the first time we went. On a return visit the same limited menu was less appealing. Mind, where for a good while we often ate 1 TS every day, we now most do QS at WDW. Part of it is that time is $, and since we're...

    Prices up…profits down…

That was not my most recent experience. The meal we ate this past summer at 1900 Park Fare was insanely overpriced ($60+ per person), and the buffet was considerably diminished from what was offered in the past. The characters have always been a bit of hit or miss at character meals, but the...

News DeSantis moves to bring state safety oversight of the Walt Disney World Monorail including suspending the service for inspections

I am not trying to get in the middle of this debate, but factually speaking, the monorail has gone down many times. When it does, WDW is able to swap to buses. I have experienced this a number of times, though most often it is only one monorail line down at a time.

Rank the 10 boat rides at Walt Disney World

1, PotC 2.JC 3. IaSW 4. FEA 5. Tiana - liked it better before redo, partly it ranks this high because the physical part of ride is still in place. 6. Land- was better in the days of live narrators, but still fun. 7. Gran Fiesta - I like this one, I just don't see ranking it higher than 1-6. 8...

    Lightning Lane Premier Pass

What's curious to me, is that elsewhere it is some of the semi-frequent visitors expressing interest in LLPP. They say they have used FP/G+/LL and now are willing to pay extra for easier park touring. They don't like having to re-learn WDW's new rules, and they don't like having to use passes...

    Lightning Lane Premier Pass

Yeesh. Of course LLPP was going to sell out during Thanksgiving week. I could have told you that was highly likely as soon as it was initially announced. The real money maker is Christmas. Having the product sell out this week, drives demand for all of December. I'm sure WDW does have a...

    Lightning Lane Premier Pass

This is pure marketing. If they say it is SOLD OUT then they give parkgoers the impression they are selling many passes. It is called scarcity marketing, FOMO. This hits upon 3 well-known strategies: Time-Based Scarcity Quantity-Based Scarcity Access-Based Scarcity.

    Lightning Lane Premier Pass

I think it might be aimed at people who were hesitant to go to WDW because of all the walking/standing, but they went to WDW at some time in the past and bypassing lines is more important than cost. Their total wealth aside, they are willing to splurge because the decision is emotion based...

    Lightening Lane

Daily. yes. (or mostly yes) It is a bit complicated. The way it is set up now, you kinda have to buy it in advance if you want to get the most LL's out of it. While tier 1 rides do pop up same day, you will have better times and better odds of getting more top tier rides/LL's if you book as...

    Visit in Mar-Apr or Jan

Ah. I'm not sure we can answer that. Just a few days ago, I was with two teens who grew up in same area. One was happy in shorts/tee, while the other wore a jacket over 2 layers and long pants. Historically speaking, the first week of Jan started out very busy, but Jan 7 crowds dropped as low...

    Security at the Park Entrance

Alas, you responded to an old post I made, and this thread has gone off the deep end. When I said guests "should know to hold umbrellas out in front of them', I meant it in the sense that people might not already know to hold umbrellas out in front. (I could have perhaps better worded it ,"a...

Gideon's Bakehouse vs. The Cake Bake Shop: Disney's Best Bakery for Cake and Cookies?

Neither of the cookies or cake slices in post #1 look all that appealing to me. One cookie doesn't have enough chocolate chips, and the other is a mess. I agree it looks underbaked. The Gideon's cake also looks a bit off, like there is too much and something wrong with the frosting. Among...

    1900 Park Fare early 2025

I ate there over the summer. It was not very good. Just nowhere near as good as it used to be. Mirabelle did an excellent job, and was the highlight of the meal. The food and the rest of the characters were a letdown, and not at all worth the price. ($78 per person before tip) Many of the...
