I think the online hate would be slightly less, for sure. But in general it's just an inferior version still, even with the minor additions it attempted. It needed to change up more with the story, not add useless scenes (extra scenes with Simba/Timon/Pumbaa and grubs) and remove important ones...

According to some inside reports, Disney has no interest in remaking Simba's Pride or any other direct to video films. Looking like the next film will be an original story, which is what I prefer. If anything Mufasa and the future film is an example of what they should be doing with these films...

Theater closures around the US really starting to show up on the dailies for all films Friday. A lot of big markets closed bc of the wildfires and snow storms. But, also hearing it was the slowest Friday in months. We’ll see how the films hold out this weekend.
