Opinion: Runaway Railway is as much of a classic as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion

This is the best reply I have gotten and I very much appreciate it. First, the mirror with Belle's Enchanted Tales. You're right. That is an attraction I have never considered and does follow the format I laid out. So that is a hole in my explanation. Second, in defense of the roof the...

Opinion: Runaway Railway is as much of a classic as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion

You are absolutely correct. The first word in the title is opinion and the first sentence in the thread is a disclaimer about how it is just my opinion. I posted this with full knowledge knowing many/most were not going to agree with me. I don't know where you've seen me claiming my opinions...

FP's gone at 60 day window??

I think it's the fact everything is disabled for reservations until June 1st. In regards to rebookings, I have a feeling most people cancelled rather than simply rebooked. That's with consideration to the fact the economy is about to take a downward turn and people think their couple grand...

Opinion: Runaway Railway is as much of a classic as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion

And @MrConbon makes an interesting observation that Spaceship Earth is changed every so often and usually the change is warmly received while a change to Haunted Mansion or Pirates causes a riot. And perhaps that could be one way (of MANY, I mean.. we could always just call it an Epcot classic...

Opinion: Runaway Railway is as much of a classic as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion

IT DOESN'T. That was a point I was trying to make. Spaceship Earth does not make sense anywhere other than EPCOT. That is why EPCOT classics are a whole separate category together. Those attractions are branded together for a reason. And given how obsessive half the forum is over classic Epcot...

Opinion: Runaway Railway is as much of a classic as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion

Well I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree there. Again, I still don't feel you're really immersed in the ride until after that first drop. There's bits of show elements before that but nothing major. The better example and the only one I can think of that would have no Walt no Mickey...

Opinion: Runaway Railway is as much of a classic as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion

First, I like Spaceship Earth. I don't know where I ever said I didn't. But I do acknowledge that there are people in the general public that don't appreciate it as much. I know this because I have taken numerous people to Disney who often don't go and they usually have mixed reactions. In...

    A, B, C, D, or E Ticket?

Well I would overall reserve judgement because it's hard to say "this definitely won't work as a boat ride" before the ride is even done. It really will depend on how much creative liberty they take upon the original version of the ride. They don't have to necessarily scrap the WDW one...

Opinion: Runaway Railway is as much of a classic as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion

If you don't mind me asking because I'm curious, what attractions would you consider a classic that don't involve a transition to fantasy or have some connection to Walt? Just so I have a better understanding. By the "very broad love, adoration, a deep following and time," that could include a...

News Remy's Ratatouille Adventure coming to Epcot

I love how the Eiffel Tower is just standing on some buildings.

Opinion: Runaway Railway is as much of a classic as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion

If you really wanted to, I guess you could xD And lest we forget the Silly Symphony Swings But I'm sure you realize I'm referring to an elaborate dark ride.

    A, B, C, D, or E Ticket?

Of course I think they should design a new ride from scratch but I also understand why Frozen went into Norway. At the time, Epcot was not garnering much attention and you would be surprised how many parents take their kids to Epcot to meet Anna and Elsa, ride the Frozen ride and immediately...

Opinion: Runaway Railway is as much of a classic as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion

Well, it will always be the first Mickey Mouse (moving) attraction. That alone to many people would solidify it.

Opinion: Runaway Railway is as much of a classic as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion

Well, a Disney classic is going to be different than a Six Flags classic. And perhaps this thread was done with the point of provoking the thought "what makes a ride a classic?" And there's no one size fits all. As I made clear, I think story telling is a defining feature but even I admit the...

    A, B, C, D, or E Ticket?

Well a few added scenes from my standpoint would make the ride substantially stronger. So that information alone is more than enough for me to call it a D ticket.

    A, B, C, D, or E Ticket?

Maybe I heard wrong but from what I had gathered, the show building is going to be substantially larger with more show scenes and probably more elaborate sets... can someone verify that?

    A, B, C, D, or E Ticket?

Oh it's definitely suffering from the fact that they built it in an already determined box (Maelstrom) but given that it will be in Hong Kong and Paris, those versions of the ride will almost certainly be a lot better and probably be worthy of a solid D ticket. At least for a while.

    A, B, C, D, or E Ticket?

I would argue that the animatronics of Frozen SLIGHTLY bump it up. I definitely don't think it should be an E ticket but the music and animatronics and a couple of nice sets (the first three with Olaf, then Anna and Kristoff and then Elsa) probably put it in the D ticket category... for now...

Opinion: Runaway Railway is as much of a classic as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion

And it just occurred to me that if Goofy was an animatronic, there may be an issue with people in the front attempting to touch him. Similar to when they had to change the apple in the Snow White ride to a holographic one as people kept trying to take it.

Opinion: Runaway Railway is as much of a classic as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion

I'm not sure I've ever ridden Priates at Disney. And a comparison to a ride must mean these rides are easily insulted. Now I wouldn't deem Rise of the Resistance a classic on the basis that it starts in fantasy and the transition from reality to fantasy really happens when you walk through the...
