New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

With things like the slight-of hand with the "$xx.99" pricing and completely removing the extremely expensive items like the $78 charcuterie, this seems more like a pure PR move made out of panic rather than a genuine correction of their prices. Not to mention changing the price of cake slices...

Especially when you compare it to the amazing Stack Burger at Steakhouse '71 for $23.

    Lightning Lane Premier Pass

I think the real risk for LL delays will be from Premier Pass guests holding up the LL tapstiles arguing with the cast member because they think they bought the "unlimited" LL pass. 😏

    Lightning Lane Premier Pass

I can't imagine too many people paying for this, so I started to wonder if this might actually be a bit of "you are the magic" marketing psychology to boost LL-MP & LL-SP. Offer a ridiculously priced option that takes the "work" out of LL and so, by comparison, LL-MP & LL-SP make you feel like...

    Lightning Lane Premier Pass

This ignores that most (if not all) of those willing to pay for Premier Pass would have likely purchased LL-MP & LL-SP anyway, so their net effect on LL capacity would be zero.

    You can get a full 3-layer slice at Gideon's for $9. 🤷‍♂️

New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

I think that the fact that the tea room at GF hasn't yet reopened post-pandemic is very telling about the lack of demand at WDW from the type of customer Cake Bake Shop appears to be targeting.

New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

Yep. The Ample Hills Boardwalk location closing had nothing to do with how well it was performing. The owners tried to expand too quickly by attempting to open their own factory for mass production, and it drove the whole company into bankruptcy. An ice cream shop in FL already starts with a...

New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

I believe it's both. It's like Summer House on the Lake at DS - there's a bakery counter that's separate from the sit-down restaurant. It seems likely, though, that the restaurant side could lose potential business because of the confusion caused by the name.

New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

Personally, I don't see it succeeding. When you have Trattoria al Forno, Flying Fish, Yachtsman, Il Mulino, BlueZoo, and Shula's all within walking distance, there wasn't a need for another "signature" restaurant in the Crescent Lake area. I also have a feeling many won't even realize that...

Because then, even if you didn't get the LL you wanted, you could still get a Slurpee. 😏

From everything I've seen, it's a separate transaction for each day. You can buy LL-MP and both LL-SPs for a day in one transaction, though. Mammoth Club on YouTube.

This is a quote from the announcement... "At Walt Disney World, guests have told us they would prefer to have the option to do more of their planning before their theme park day. So, this summer we will make changes to our Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane entry, including new...

The initial selections you see when pre-booking are held for you for 5 minutes and no one else can book them, so there should be no risk of losing them.

I saw a vlogger report the same thing. He was testing out all the potential ways to "unlock" LL selections, and the only one that worked was using the first LL. When he tried letting an early LL expire, he got the same result as your friend - it didn't count as "used" and didn't unlock more...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

The problem with this is that, there's nothing limiting how many people can enter the express lane at any given time. As we've seen, there's far more demand for an express lane than there is supply, and that's by design. If everyone could just pay to enter an express lane at any time, not only...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

I sure hope so. In the FP+ days, there was a site that had a FP+ availability calendar (I can't recall which site) where you could see what selections were gone and when. It was one of the most useful things for planning out FP+ selections ahead of time so that you didn't waste time on booking...

I think the possibly more interesting data will be what 7-day availability looks like in a week or two when long stays start to overlap the 7-day on-property booking window.

So this would mean the return of the "throwaway" selection as a strategy.
