Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

This is a far bigger change than those were and it’s completely dishonest to pretend otherwise. It’s also one part of a bigger initiative that’s been said to be only the begining. I’m not saying saying attendance at the parks would be completely eradicated or anything, but this and potentially...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

As I said If there’s anyone who should influence what this ride could look like going forward, it should be the people that have a close relationship with these stories and work to preserve them. I didn’t get into much specifics of how they should go about handling it because I can’t speak to...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

There’s a difference between accepting the ride’s fate and pressuring people to agree with the logic behind it.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

They’ve rarely gone after attractions considered to be this sacred before, especially in the castle parks. Promoting backlash and “inclusivity” gives them protection to take things further than they have gone before. I’ve explain the harm it is doing in my other replies. Also, fun fact: you can...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Well, for one, I would suggest that Disney with people like Miss Georgia who was mentioned earlier in this thread that have a close relationship with these stories and work to preserve them. If there’s anyone who should influence what this ride could look like going forward, it should be them...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Don’t you do that. You know exactly what I’m talking about when I talk about providing new context for the attraction. That’s a very broad generalization to assume that the calls to save the characters and stories are inherently disingenuous. Even though you’ve taken issue with how these...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I wouldn’t disagree that’s at the root of much of the backlash, but maybe it’s not actually backfiring in Disney’s eyes. Maybe backlash is what Disney, or at least Iger, wanted all along with this approach. The current brass at Disney has always wanted to push changes in the parks further than...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

I’m perfectly well-aware of what Disney wants. I’m just saying what they want is completely wrongheaded and has ultimately caused and will continue to cause more harm than good for all parties involved.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

So, basically, you think the ride can be redeemed if they remove elements specifically derived from the movie, but because some people are motivated to save the attraction because of those elements, it’s more important to punish them for their wrongthink even if the stories themselves eventually...

Tiana's Bayou Adventure: Disneyland Watch & Discussion

Even if that’s the case, most people don’t seem to take enough issue with the Splash Mountain attractions themselves to where they feel the attraction needs to go. To me, this says that Disney could’ve taken the opportunity to provide a new context for the attraction if they wanted to.

What majority do you speak of exactly? The majority here and elsewhere that has consistently agreed with her stance? https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/splash-mountain-retheme-poll.965850/ https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/poll-are-you-in-favor-of-the-splash-mountain-re-theme.965849/...

    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

Even if they decided to put it in a Walt Disney Treasures DVD set back in the 2000’s? Those weren’t geared towards children and even addressed some of the company’s more controversial content. IMHO, that would’ve been the perfect avenue to release Song of the South...

You’re right, we don’t disagree at all. I misunderstood your point. Thank you for clarifying it.

    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

As @Sue_Vongello said, the PR itself is designed to fool you that the company as a whole is doing it for the right reasons even if they aren’t. While she may believe it, I already acknowledged that both can be true.

    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

She is spewing the company’s altruistic stances on planned changes to the parks, but I think she makes her personal stance more clear by going a little bit off base in the video. When she brings up the Jungle Cruise changes, for example, she directly mentions that they’re happening to remove...

    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

There’s a lot to unpack here, but I think everyone here has valid points. On one hand, @Sue_Vongello is right that even corporate decisions that have the most altruistic PR are made with the same business driven intentions as everything else. On the other hand, @SunsetLament and @1HAPPYGHOSTHOST...

    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

Thank you. If you think discussion on this topic can get intense now, just imagine if Disney decided to make the announcement out of nowhere at the D23 Expo. The live reaction would’ve been something the likes of which we’ve never seen at a high profile fan convention.

    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

As I’ve previously stated in the discussion only thread, even if Disney had any potential replacement ideas, I believe that they may have at least been depending on online outcry to occur before giving a full green light to any of them in order to keep the backlash towards such a decision...

Great example with the Brer Rabbit 2020 pin, but can you please take screenshots of the other examples? You can’t see them unless you are a part of the private Facebook group.
