MK Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

Makes sense that the spice is us, because I feel pretty darn spicy about everything Disney has done to one of my favorite attractions! I support the addition of characters from under-represented communities. I support the removal of attraction elements that are culturally insensitive. I support...

MK Country Bear Jamboree is getting new songs and acts

Agreed. These songs have no place in Frontierland. Here's yet another unique, cohesive, and well-themed - and I daresay, culturally educational - attraction ("featuring a bit of Americana, our musical heritage of the past"), destroyed by Disney cramming randomly-selected IP where it doesn't...

Looking for Animal Kingdom Lodge tips

You won't mind not having a view from the room -- as you'll discover, the resort is full of lookout points in the hallways and common areas from which you can watch the animals. We've stayed at a number of deluxes, and as far as food is concerned, AKL blew all of the rest out of the water...

    Cabins at FW sales thread

Per Google, the square footage and footprint are exactly the same as before -- about 504 SF of living space (some sources measure it as being a tad bigger, but still describe it as the same SF as before), plus the deck.

Why Forbidden Journey is So Effective

I really enjoy the ride system. While some of the screens and transitions are a bit clunky to me, it's forgivable given the fact that it was ground-breaking for its time, and I agree that the best parts of the attraction are those where you're thisclose to real, 3D set pieces and effects.

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Good point. For so long, we (and all the reputable crowd calendar makers and Disney touring guide publishers) have measured WDW "crowds" in terms of attraction wait times. It's a hard habit to break, and I think it will be some time before guests change their mindset to understand that nowadays...

WDW Space Mountain is better than Disneyland's. Change my mind.

Completely agree! My family all thought the same, the first time we rode the DL version. I'm honestly surprised to see so many folks responding with the opposite opinion.

    Thoughts on Dining Lineup

As long as you don't mind leaving the parks repeatedly to go to resorts for dining (which, if you take an afternoon break anyway, is probably not inconvenient), I think it's an excellent list. For me, an "excellent" list encompasses a number of different types of cuisine and different dining...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Now Open!

Maybe my family isn't representative of the greater population (particularly since both my kids are now teens), but we've done multiple Disney-only, Universal-only, and Disney-Universal-split vacations. The net effect of Epic Universe on us is expected to be: (1) we'll be less likely to split a...

Best way from MCO to Pop with a stop?

The majority of ground transportation providers (e.g., Tiffany Town Car, Orlando Luxury Transportation) include a grocery stop, or else allow it as an add-on for an extra fee. They do tend to have limitations as to the time of day, duration of the stop, need for advance notice, and in some...

Yacht Club Refurbishment for Some Rooms Slated For Early 2025

Agreed. We stayed at Yacht Club last August (booked what was then standard garden view but got a free upgrade to water view) and our room was beautifully functional, tastefully themed, and had flooring and furnishings that still looked brand new.

    Snack idea for the parks

Saving some money on in-park food or snacks by bringing your own (within reason) is a great way to make a Disney vacation more affordable, and if it hasn't been normalized yet, it should be. My mother did her own version of this 40 years ago, except instead of uncrustables and veggies in takeout...

    Tell me about these restaurants

'Ohana only has the potential to be "not disappointing" if you've never been before, and haven't read old reviews about how good it used to be. Brown Derby can be good (just check the menu before you go, because sometimes their offerings are more attractive than others), and Homecomin is excellent.

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Agreed. We were stunned the first time we did extra evening hours at EPCOT (when DAS guests would have been the only ones using lightning lanes, since G+ windows ended at park closing.) Even though the standby line looked incredibly short, we waited some 30 minutes for Frozen, while an endless...

    Chefs de France

Looks like Le Cellier and Space 220 are the only places in EPCOT to find a filet now. (Link to the touringplans menu search tool below, in case you want to check other locations.) https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/menu_items?search=filet&location=EPCOT&category=

    ILL for resort guests

OP, are you maybe thinking of the two weekly "extra evening hours" for deluxe resort guests, at the MK and EPCOT (usually EPCOT on Monday and MK on Wednesday)? As @Tuvalu said, the only onsite-resort-related "benefit" when it comes to G+ is that you can purchase G+ (or up to two individual...

If you could implement 1 major change throughout the parks, what would it be?

I'd get rid of VQs, G+, and ILLs altogether. Everyone waits in standby except for DAS guests/parties, who can sign up for one return time at a time (representing the standby wait time) and can't enter any other attractions until they've used or canceled it.

    Yacht club vs contemporary

I don't think you're going to be disappointed either way. My personal vote would be for the Yacht Club, simply for the ease of being able to walk to two of the parks (which my family enjoys, even in August, but you may feel differently about that)! Still, it's a close comparison. Perhaps you...

News New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Exactly. Disney can't offer an efficient skip-the-line system of any kind, so long as it continues to build more hotels instead of more (and higher-capacity) attractions. (A few people have mentioned Universal's much more successful express pass benefit, but as others have pointed out...

Universal Stella Nova Resort and Universal Terra Luna Resort

I'm sure you're right. In fact, they may have to build a pedestrian bridge sooner rather than later solely for safety reasons, in response to those people who will inevitably try to play Frogger on the highway. (We saw this in action when we stayed at Cabana Bay: rather than spend an extra 5...
