MK New Beak and Barrel - Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge

Case closed. Next topic: Can’t see the “show” unless you are seated on the bar side. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

Time for some glam country. And a magic carpet ride. Whoa! And - right back where we started from, Maxine Nightingale. Yo ho, yo ho!

Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

Awesome rides are always more awesome with short waits. Peter Pan was looking too long. We kept walking. Now, this was supposed to be a 20 minute wait, but… Bubbles! It was nearly 40 minutes. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Here I am blowing out the candles on my birthday cake. And “Drain the swamp?”

Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

Now…did we miss our opportunity for a 5 minute wait for Tiana? Brian hasn’t seen the refurb yet. No big tour group of kiddos. ✅ Beautiful morning. ✅ Live music. ✅✅ 15 minute wait? I’ll take it! We did not get the front row, no matter how much certain people around here may or...

Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

There are two sides to this bar, with a pass-through. One side contains the actual bar and some tables. The other side is just tables. “Hello from the other siiiiide…” The drinks were premixed, pretty good, and pretty sweet. Brian attempted a simple Jack and Diet for his second round...

Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

What’s with these wait times?! Wow! But we had no time. We had to get to B&B. I hoped everything wouldn’t be an hour wait afterwards. And here we go!

Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

Brian had no idea, until I woke him up in the morning, telling him to get in the shower bc we needed to get out the door! “Early” for us: A little after 9:30am. Yes, B has lost weight. 👏🏻 Here comes the boat! And here comes Magic Kingdom.

Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

The atrium from the 2nd floor. Why am I fascinated with this? And then, around 2:00 in the morning, finally!! Why was I awake at 2am? Never mind. 🤐 Mouse Dining sent me no fewer than 15 notifications for Beak & Barrel (often while I was using my phone.) This was the only one I was able...

Actually, those curtains in the first picture are hideous! 🤣 🌲 🌲

Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

The gym, called Sturdy Branches, has an entrance from the atrium, as well as one from outdoors. Even the elevators are themed. Hmm…maybe a little tacky? After a brief workout alone, B and I went to the main building to meet our tour guide. We were kept waiting for quite some time...

Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

When we returned to the pool, it was cloudy and drizzly again. Oh, well. Woodsiness: Being in Boulder Ridge was set apart from the main building, but still close enough to not be inconvenient. I appreciated having our own quiet atrium. Plenty of seating, theming, a fireplace. 👏🏻

Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

“Monday, Monday…so good to me…” It’s now Labor Day, and we’re still blocked out of the parks. 🫤 This light fixture above the bed reminded me of Skee-ball. 😆 Before our trip, I received a phone call from DVC. They noticed we were coming, and staying at Boulder Ridge, and offered to give us a...

MK New Beak and Barrel - Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge

It’s not at all unreasonable to be miffed at the situation. I would just caution you in the sense that, “you don’t know what you don’t know.“ @plutofan15 raises some interesting points about what may or may not be legit behind the scenes reasons. There are all kinds of oddball things that...

MK New Beak and Barrel - Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge

Thank you. Naturally, I’m aware that other people will have different viewpoints. However: I would point out, likewise: someone who stresses the minutiae of theming, or the feelings of animals we eat, or the ramifications of a bar selling alcohol is not superior to someone who enjoys a theme...

MK New Beak and Barrel - Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge

@LittleBuford had I known, I would have ordered one for you on Tuesday. I’m sure it would’ve been nice to meet you. I know that’s not your point. On a similar note, my husband is type one diabetic. All those mixed drinks are sweet. Although Jack Daniels is one of the ingredients listed in...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

And Jaws was the number two movie of the weekend. Wild. I saw it yesterday in 3-D. The 3-D was mildly successful, sometimes distracting. Still, it was good to see the film in theaters for the first time since I originally saw it as a kid. Despite many, many viewings over the years, it never...

Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

Back inside, there was no rush to leave. They brought coffee for Brian. They brought ketchup for my second and third slider. 😆 (and they didn’t yell about it like they do at WL 🤣) I sampled several desserts, all fantastic. We did not go for a third round at the bar (!!!) I did not want Rose and...

Trip Report 2 broke guys and the deluxe bday trip!

Many of you are probably familiar with viewing the fireworks from outside the California Grill. This is not that. We attending this event have a private area, separate from the riffraff merely spending $200 pp on a prix fixe menu. 😉 No shortage of pics here. I’ll self-edit as I go.
