    Tokyo Disneyland Resort Expansion

In the ride plan there doesn't seem to be any indication of rounded "screen rooms", where the vehicles move in front of a large projections as in Shanghai Pirates or Ratatouille. The linear track makes it seem like a boat ride. Can anyone translate the text on the screen?

    Zootopia Coming To Shanghai

^What has me scratching my head is why would they hold a topping out ceremony for a structure that is going to be 2-3x taller (according to the art). It would be like Star Wars Land having a topping out ceremony when the roof of the 40ft showbuilding was completed as opposed to when they put up...

    Zootopia Coming To Shanghai

Is the topped-out feature above that orange circular building at right? If so, there appeared to be much taller structural features to this land and attraction (even considering the rearmost 'towers' will be painted flats like EPCOT Ratatouille). Somewhat disconcerting to hold a topping-out...

Beauty and the Beast Tokyo ride through

I do believe giving at least a small twinge/tingle of excitement & fear is necessary in great rides. Those EPCOT originals mostly had segments that gave that little kicker (e.g., Horizons' simulator ending; World of Motion's speed rooms, Energy's dinosaurs, Spaceship Earth's height and when it...

    After Rhode: What happens next?

As intellectually-minded and serious about the art and purpose of theme parks as Joe was/is, he wasn't able to do much about the broad strategic trajectory the top brass has set WDI on for a very long time: So what happens next will be - unfortunately - a seamless continuation of what's been...

    Tokyo Disneyland Resort Expansion

The hotel will likely make or break the land, environmentally, as it will loom over most of it (as MiraCosta does). If the Fantasy Springs hotels is 85% as well done as MiraCosta I'd be happy. But I'm pessimistic about how the hotel will end up looking. I have so little faith in today's...

HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

As a critic earlier, I have to admit that this nightime walkaround in 4K paints the castle in a pretty spectacular light. I like the narrowness of the alleys directly behind the castle: From this Exhibit vid, we get a closer look at the early development along with a preview of the Projection...

HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

I haven't seen a pic that makes the inverted massing look absurdly egregious yet (hard to take in a wide, unobstructed angle of the rear base with FL showbuildings and carousel in the way). From the pics I have seen, those multi-story squared "slat" windows are what stand out to me the most...

HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

^ THank you! Hopefully large versions of the other early castle concepts on that exhibit wall will soon be posted.

HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

This is what I've been looking for: Hopefully someone can share some close-up pics of the Exhibit images that show the earliest concepts for the new castle. I'd like to understand their design process/evolution. Until now, the first concept art ever released showed, in essence, what they...

HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

^In the model, the long slender rear windows had a gothic treatment. Keeping that would have been much better in terms of believability.

HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

Further to my post above, I don't despise this castle at all. I still prefer it to the original, squat clone. My opinion tends to vary widely depending on the pic (and not seeing it in person). From the front, I think a persistent issue is the desire to have each new turret look distinct -...

HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

With this project I've moved in the opposite direction as many here. I was rah-rah in the beginning, but I'm astounded [not really, anymore, actually] that Disney with its supposedly best theme-park designers in the world ended up with this final structure that looks like a ginormous Barbie...

HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

I've been a supporter of this castle project (and still am), but this image... yikes... It's like Princess Barbie's(tm) Castle Playset from Hell... As someone noted earlier, it's this middle front section where they threw in loads of discordant, plastic onion turrets with no visual/arch. link...

    Splash Mountain re-theme announced

I'm guessing an absolute minimum will be changed. In this way corporate Disney's love for cost-saving will dovetail with a desire to pander to both sides ("To those who loved Splash, this is really the same ride but with a new soundtrack and some characters added").

HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

It doen's have nearly the footprint of SDMT. It'll be short (one lift as opposed to SDMT's two). But my expectations are SDMT level of theme-ing, based on the art. I expect it to go in and around a mountain and feel like it's terrain-following (SDMT), not a naked coaster track (Barnstormer)...

HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

With HKDL finally coming into its own, i.e., approaching a full-day park in terms of number attractions, it's interesting to look back on the leaked early Placeholder expansion plan. It is full of clones, likely to show the shortchanged HK investors how the park could have "all the Disney...

HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

The pic from above would seem to indicate custom. These elements (eg, the camel-hump) don't look like the off-the-shelf Vekoma Jr.:

^ I hope - and expect - they will replant those areas and it will address that issue and ensconce the main castle in trees.

    Zootopia Coming To Shanghai

It's all semantics, but I don't think Zootopia has or will be considered part of Fantasyland in any official way: marketing, guidemaps, etc. It'll be it's own thing - the equivalent of the westside's Toy Story Land. How they handle the jarring Zootopia-Fantasyland environmental transition &...
