Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

There is exactly zero evidence that touching a hot button issue "gets butts in the door" and there is a ton of evidence that suggests it can tank a film.

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

For what it's worth, I saw Superman and enjoyed it. In the same way I view the Tim Burton Batman movies as Elseworld films ... as opposed to a *main* cinematic shared comic universe ... I'd put this Superman movie in the same category. This is a Giffen/DeMatteis Superman movie. I liked it...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

At this point, I don't understand why these studios even make the actors/directors available to the press leading up to a film's release. It's just too easy for them to say something that will aggravate 25% of the public and tank a film's opening.

    Marvel's Fantastic Four

I can't express how much Reed Richards' sweater not having white shoulders irritates my mild OCD.

News Disney and Miral Announce New Seventh Theme Park Planned for Abu Dhabi

This can't be a Disney project ... there's no seed & mulch on the concept drawings.

    Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*

I like the movie, but the characters are B and C-list characters from movies that didn't make money and D+ shows ... Yelena - Co-lead in Black Widow, small part in Hawkeye Walker - Villain(ish) character in FATWS Red Guardian - Supporting character in Black Widow Ghost - Villain in Ant-Man and...

    Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*

Nah ... Walker and Bucky were both in Falcon & the Winter Soldier and Yelena was in Hawkeye

    Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*

No, it should have made exactly as much money as it did (I'm not sure I even understand your question). And at the time it was made, the amount of box office money a particular film made had much less influence on whether Marvel would allow a sequel into production. Eternals 2, Shang-Chi 2...

    Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*

GOTG was made at a time when Marvel was invested in longterm thinking and planning. It no longer is.

    SPOILERS Thunderbolts*

I was kind of hoping the Taskmaster would return in the third act and then unmask and it would be Zemo. And speaking of the third act, it needed an action scene going on with the other characters, inter-cut with Yelena being in the Void by herself.

    Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*

I thought it was okay. Definitely better than the last Captain America and the Marvels. A little better than Quantumania (which is really a Fantastic Four/Flash Gordon film starring the wrong family). Probably on-par with Shang-Chi. Unfortunately, if past is prologue, it's not going to make...

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Now Open!

This park fascinates me because there is literally nothing in this park that interests me ... except for the Monsters Land. But the Monsters Land has me more excited than anything I can remember in recent memory; maybe more than Galaxy's Edge (before it opened and I realized Disney cut corners...

News Live-Action Tangled Remake in Development

I feel compelled to point out that, unlike some casting professionals currently working at Disney, I have never cost the company (or any company) over a hundred million dollars because of a poor casting decision. So maybe the professionals shouldn't be put on a pedestal.

SPOILERS: Snow White live action (March 21, 2025 release)

If the leads said the originals were problematic? ... yes.

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Meanwhile, twenty years ago, Peter Jackson made this and everyone thought it was great (and it printed money).

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I think it was almost impossible to hide what they did with false marketing. People are too online now; the story was how much of a screwup this film was (and how awful Zegler is), not how close it was to the original.

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Not me. I think the live-action remakes are perfectly fine (and a smart business decision) ... as long as they adhere as closely as possible to the originals.

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

I said this when the Seven United Hobos of Benetton photo was leaked, but this film should have been used as a tax write-off like Batgirl. That would have allowed them to immediately put a faithful live-action version of Snow White into production.

    Marvel on the chopping block?

The only MCU characters that IOA would be prohibited from using are the ones that were created in the MCU (Darcy, Coulson, etc), not the comic books ... with the possible exception of the Guardian of the Galaxy characters and (maybe) the SHIELD characters (like Nick Fury and Maria Hill). They...
