couple quick ?'s be our guest

How DME service works is that you literally drop off your bags at your departure airport and they go straight to your resort hotel, you never have to deal with baggage claim at MCO. From the magical express page: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/magical-express/ When you...

Best QS restaurants, in each park

Oops, my mistake. We've never managed to get the FastPass for BoG and now, because it's so easy to standby, we've never bothered to get the FP. Maybe we'll try again next trip.

Best QS restaurants, in each park

Just be warned that as of late, they "reach capacity" for lunch that day at BoG by around 11 to 11:30. So showing up by 1pm, you'll almost certainly not be able to eat lunch without FP+. So if you want to eat lunch there and don't want to spend a FastPass (or can't get one), then your best bet...

    Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

I think you should decide whether you're there for the ambiance or the food. If the later, you'll get FAR more for your money just dining around the world (in fact, just snack/drink at all of the kiosks around the world). If however, you really care about princesses and the environment, then...

Linking reservations at Swan & Dolphin to MDE

We've stayed at the Swan and Dolphin in the past but that was during the MM+ testing phase so we were only able to make same-day FP+ selections. I've heard that now guests at the S&D can make FP+ reservations 60 days ahead of time. Has anyone had experience with this? How does that work? In the...

If you're using Disney's Magical Express Service from the airport (sounds like you are), then yes. The motor coach will only take you to the front of your resort hotel. If you're going to use Disney's luggage tags (which is convenient) then any bags you check at your departing airport will go...

couple quick ?'s be our guest

By 11am, it's almost certainly worth it to check with the front desk to see if you can check into a room. In all of our trips with morning arrivals, across several different hotels, we've almost always immediately got a room upon arrival that late in the morning.

    Disney World Restaurant Recipies

Last night, we made Jungle Juice slushies. Jungle Juice (or our close approximation of it) consisted of equal parts Orange, Passion Fruit, and Guava juices (in Hawaii, they have a drink called POG which is pretty much the same thing). Once you've mixed the juices up and chilled them in the...

    fp+ and shows?

FP+ for some shows has the benefit of helping you not standing around waiting for the show to start accepting people. For large venues like Fantasmic, it's been helpful (plus last time, we just added the Fantasmic FP+ on the day were were in HS instead of reserving it early). That said, for...

How do you share your trip photos?

You generally just upload at full-resolution and flickr will take care of providing all of the smaller sizes automatically.

How do you share your trip photos?

Okay, so you post images via the generated BBcode as opposed to a direct link to the photo via the Image button in the editor?

Dealing with heat at the parks

That's a good idea. We've always been fans of eating at non-traditional times to avoid crowds. For example, we'd often eat a really late breakfast or a really early lunch (which is practically a necessity if you want to eat lunch at BoG without a FastPass). Given our newly-discovered love to...

How do you share your trip photos?

So I looked into this a little bit. It appears that while it's possible to directly link to Flickr images but it's not very straight-forward and nothing in Flickr's help/documentation mentions how to do it directly. Basically you have to pick off the src url from the generated HTML or BBCode img...

How do you share your trip photos?

Another reasonable alternative is imgur. I know that's it's often associated with cat meme pics on reddit but it's actually a reasonable photo host and unlike photobucket, has no bandwidth limits. I wrote a howto for another forum and made the mistake of using photobucket. Now, once a month, all...

    Step counter

Aside from the fact that Disney is probably not in the business of fitness bands, someone once said this about all wearables: "Everything is a balance between functionality and battery life". Adding a step counter might not be hard, but how will you retrieve it? Does that involve adding a...

Dealing with heat at the parks

We recently returned from a trip in August at WDW (trip report here ). As the trip was in mid-August, temperatures were consistently in the 90s during the day, humidity got as high as 80%. This often made the heat index in the 100s. Combined with our experience from prior trips, we developed a...

    Bathrooms/potty-training

I don't think there's ever a time where I found potty training to be "fun". Thus I always tried to get our kids out of the "in training" phase as quickly as possible. With that in mind, the only alternatives I saw were: don't go to the parks or to have the kid wear pull-ups (which are basically...

Trip Report It's fun in the Summer Time - WDW August 2014

Thank you! I figured in the interest of not just repeating the same experience every trip, I would write down something for each day that I thought was the most important in terms of things that went good or bad. These turned into the daily tips.

Trip Report It's fun in the Summer Time - WDW August 2014

Thank you! I was really hesitant but the cast member who took my call in reservations said that she herself had done this and encouraged me to go ahead and sign my daughter up. It turned out to be a great experience.

Trip Report It's fun in the Summer Time - WDW August 2014

Thank you! Though we've been to Disney a few times, this was my first time documenting the experience. Actually, it was interesting, we were looking through our Disney pics over the years and compared against a relatively fixed setting, you could really see your kids growing up over the years...
