    A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

I've heard the nickle-and-dime complaint about RCLL a lot. And obviously I love DCL having been on five of their cruises. But at a certain point the sticker shock is going to hurt them with first-time family cruisers, which is the market they built on.

    A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

The only DS places that seem to get unanimous raves from the fan community are Boathouse (well deserved) and Jocks (I suspect more for the atmosphere and friendly staff than the drinks). Opinions on Homecoming seem decidedly mixed, tho you can't be surprised a large percentage of people who...

    A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

It's odd to me that DCL can charge beyond premium rates* from ports within a 3-hour drive of WDW, but can't seem to get customers elsewhere. It's an Achilles heel that I would think would limit their long-term growth. * Royal Caribbean tweeted at a blogger friend of mine this morning--same...

    First timer- feeling clueless!

A big part of all of Universal, but especially the two Potter lands, is the atmosphere. Being able to soak it all in and actually feel like you are in the middle of Diagon Alley. The best advice I could give you is stop looking at the list of rides as a series of boxes to be checked off as...

    A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

Well, tried to. That was the goal. But we agree they failed, and had the opposite effect. But Disney is a business...

    A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

There's a great irony here: TWDC spent billions on turning Orlando into a "blue ocean" market. In the process, they allowed their #1 competitor to grow stronger than anyone possibly imagined it could (water park, 10k rooms and a third gate on the way), and now appear to have attracted another...

    Halloween Horror Nights 26

Only the LA show (which was always different).

    Mardi Gras 2017

Runs 2/4 - 3/24. Parade every night! Ditto live New Orleans music, food booths. Main stage concerts still limited primarily to Saturdays, artists to be announced. With MK seemingly going nighttime parade-less this Spring, this is a shot across the Mouse's bow.

    Halloween Horror Nights Solo?

I would wager the percentage of solo HHN-goers is exponentially higher than solo WDW guests. Besides, you can always make friends in Finnegans.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party 2016

Goaded into going by out-of-town friends Sunday night. Even tho it was a sell-out, I think it still very much served their purposes--an enjoyable single "day" in MK at a 30% discount with free candy. Entry is a cluster. Moving security to TTC will help tremendously, but at the moment metal...

    Characters in Disney Springs

^ This. You need a critical mass of stores to support the appearance of being an "all day" shopping venue. DS does not have that in the way FL Mall or the Outlets or even Millenia does. It's not a shopping destination yet, it's another Disney destination, that just happens to not offer a lot...

How busy would Universal be during these times?

Literally everything in Orlando, even the grocery stores, is that busy that week. Expect Universal to be equivalent to Magic Kingdom. Huge lines, may need a return ticket to enter Potter, etc.

    Halloween Horror Nights 26

This works in your favor if you get there early. Other than Sunday, the crowds rarely start to build until about 8:30--a ton of nightly guests wait to save that $13 on parking before showing up.

    Toothsome opening

I like the food at a lot of the places in DS, but none of them have the atmosphere or attention to detail of Toothsome. I initially thought this would be a Sugar Factory rip-off--and the dessert menu is to an extent--but it's much more a themed Cheesecake Factory menu* in a Jekyll & Hyde Club...

    Toothsome opening

Tim and Jen were sitting at the bar with me when they started filming. Does that count? ;) Chocolate cherry mule. Trust me on this.

    Western Way Extension

The irony, of course, is that 192 got a Super Target and some nicer Darden/Bloomin restaurants and stole the market away from Flamingo Crossing before anything could be built back there. My guess is that this expansion is WDW finally realizing it will have a severe CM housing problem within...

    Halloween Horror Nights 26

No. Last year it was full price until 8 pm, then reduced $5 parking (free for FL residents) until 10 pm, free for all after that.

    Toothsome opening

Had brunch, my friend had one of the chicken dishes, clearly everything was fresh and from scratch. Things like "chocolate ranch" and "chocolate almond bread' aren't commercially available, they pretty much have no choice but to do their own. I even watched as the bartender freshly grated white...
