A sequel? Nah, not this one

Basic theories of economics and business strategy? There are easy levers to pull when demand is lagging - unless the bottom has completely fallen out. They aren't pulling them (yet), which tells me there is a business reason they have not done so. They are making an active choice here. They are...

A sequel? Nah, not this one

They don't want the crowds. They know what they need to do to drive up attendance. They don't want to do it. It is a continuing choice.

News Swan and Dolphin Tower Expansion - The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve

I meant to say "not a Sheraton". Saying "this is probably a Westin" would have been simpler wording anyway. Sorry! Also, it is not like it really makes that big of a difference anymore. Swan and Dolphin are both in the same rewards category anyway. The Autograph Collection is an interesting...

News Swan and Dolphin Tower Expansion - The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve

Well at least now we know this is very likely a Sheraton Hotel. I don't think we knew that before. ETA: Clarifying a typo "very likely *NOT* a Sheraton Hotel."

News Swan and Dolphin Tower Expansion - The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve

This is me annually - except 2020 because no employer travel being approved. We usually just take the conference room at the Dolphin, but I could be tempted by an up charge to a family suite. We do really enjoy the high up night views of the BW and EPCOT though as well as the rear of HS. Would...

News Swan and Dolphin Tower Expansion - The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve

So is it going to essentially be a Springhill Suites with a good address then? [I like SH's a lot -- they work well for family travel.]

News Refurbishment coming soon to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort - Moana details to be included

Literally no large, traded company is going to do this willingly. Certainly not one with enough reach to disrupt an entire state economy. Certainly not a company with enough PR power to become a national - if not international story. Certainly not a company that could move an entire sector's...

    "Cancelled" Annual Passes Still Active?

I am guessing they have no process for mass cancellation - kind of like they did not have a process for mass extensions - of annual passes. So they let people cancel but are not sure exactly how to shut off the passes.

News Swan and Dolphin Tower Expansion - The Walt Disney World Swan Reserve

I mean folks could keep arguing over how busy roads are based on the precise moment you attempted to cross them or you could look into Reedy Creek's actual data..... Start at (actual not numbered) page 83 of the document...

News Disney Lakeshore Lodge (Project 89 - Development near Fort Wilderness)

The cabins generally go for north of $300 a night. Seeing prices over $400 per night currently. I would assume the cost of the unit is low compared to cost per room in a new resort build. It could make fine financial sense. Not saying they will do it or would be inclined to do it.

News Disney Lakeshore Lodge (Project 89 - Development near Fort Wilderness)

And/or bring in more cabins. Due to pandemic conditions (and into the future), I think a segment of the market is going to shift to wanting stand-alone units when they travel but are not necessarily going to camp.

    The Red Button Option

None of this makes sense for a tested, seasoned multi-national company. This is the third or fourth thread claiming that Disney is flailing in panic and has zero capability for forecasting, scenario mapping, and disciplined decision making. This narrative simply does not make sense. If it were...

"Supposedly" according this OP. There is no independent confirmation of any of this. It is just rumor.

    Cash-Strapped Disney

ETA: I do not doubt that source(s) made these claims. I just want to push on some of these points a bit. ----- I doubt it was a rouge committee. It may have been a group removed from the finances and design considerations, but they clearly had the authority to make the call. This sounds more...
