Should Tokyo Disneyland redesign Cinderella Castle?

Those guest walkway footprints they have are super interesting, thanks for sharing that!

Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

I personally consider Art Nouveau very time-specific, and very limited in applicability. There's only so much you can do with it. Hence why it ended, and why it somewhat slipped into obscurity. It's popularity has been on rise for decades now though, to the point of near universal admiration...

Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

I think there might be a preference to dissociate Disney Adventure World from WDSP and its poor reputation.

Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

I assume the opening is marketing driven. They'd want to open everything at once, not piecemeal, to clearly convey the scale of the work, to send a clear message of this being an all but new park. Hence also the need for a name change. And then timed on time for summer holiday bookings.

MAGICal DLP News, Rumours & Thoughts

There's currently a great exhibition in Paris, sadly it finishes next month already. 100 Years of Disney, featuring lots of goodies from the Disney Archives: Now there's a friend I hadn't seen in a long time!

MAGICal DLP News, Rumours & Thoughts

It's wonderful. Around 2012/13, one of my hobbies was taking pictures of 'nature reclaiming the ruins of DLP'. Such was the absolute state of the place. Now only the Asian parks are as well maintained. What a remarkable turnaround, even more profound than Pressler Park into DL50. And yet...

Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

I'm not sure why, but since about the end of last decade Art Nouveau is the go-to home style for Disney. Replacing the American Victorian style that previously dominated Disney resorts. Both styles are fairly contemporaneous, so that's not it. From the WDW skyliner in Florida to the Fantasy...

MK Walt Disney to Appear in Carousel of Progress with New Audio-Animatronic at Magic Kingdom

They undo the castle's 'Disney Store princess aisle pink' , add Walt to a preshow (admittedly both great news), but rip out the heart of the MK with the lake district.

The Real Genius of Tower of Terror

Yes, another stroke of genius of ToT is that it is a rare example of the attraction not trying to hide its showbuilding, but making it an integral part of the show and of the park. Everest is another modern example. WDSP and DCA ToT (both before and after Guardian) try but don't really succeed.

Will DCA be a Complete, Well Rounded and Full Day Park after the New Rides Open?

If DCA gains the most from nighttime it's because it ceases to be ugly. Cars Land is superb at night, BVS too. The Pier I guess depends on who you ask. For me, it's not bad, but I'm not feeling the magic either. But overall, nah. Lighting only goes so far in creating rather than enhancing...

Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

I have seen Elsa's castle irl in HK and TDS. Neither worked well, the scale and visuals didn’t transfer well from screen to real life. WDSP follows the same design principles. The movie ice castle is about abstract form, colour, icy brightness. This could perhaps be translated into an...

Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

I'm excited for the new WDSP, as most of us are, but frankly we all know this is more to do with the absence of quality in the park before than with the presence of it afterwards. TDS this is not. It's not even a DCA style restart, that other ugly stepchild park. Two flatrides, there's a place...

In America, at EPCOT, Frozen is sold as Norwegian. In Europe, Frozen is sold as American. 😀 Arendelle as a fantasy setting of a distinctly American production.

    The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

Recent homeruns: Rise BatB - the sets are a bit sparse, hence the criticism it sometimes receives, I think. But that's judging BatB as a,dark ride,,and overlooking that the movement of the vehicles is so much of the show. Like judging Thunder Mountain too sparse, when the coaster ride is the...

What is the Mount Rushmore of Imagineers?

If you're an engineer, your legacy is determined not by the thousand planes you made fly, but by the three planes you made crash. If you're an artist, your legacy is determined not by your thousand forgettable works, but by your three masterpieces that soared to heaven.
