Any other 'regulars' still look for new things to do each visit

This will sound sooooo nerdy... We've gone at least a million times starting as children in the mid-70's. All these years later married and now taking my kids. I like to look for "design". I am a professor and artist and I teach a lot of foundation design courses (color theory..etc.). This...

Nighttime in the Magic Kingdom from the Mid 70's...more Slides

I hadn't thought about the trees and forced perspective. That's a tough illusion to maintain...maybe they should just build a taller castle.

Nighttime in the Magic Kingdom from the Mid 70's...more Slides

Just thought I would post another batch of slides that I cleaned up in Photoshop. These were the commercial ones that you could buy in the Magic Kingdom in the mid to late 1970's. I'm particularly drawn to the hub photos. I like the partners statue but there is a nice quality that the...

    Main Street 1975-1978 Slides

Tivoli was such a beautiful park and I can see why it inspired Walt for Disneyland. Tivoli especially takes on a magical quality at night.

    Main Street 1975-1978 Slides

On a personal note I teach color theory and painting and I have always appreciated the color theming of the Disney parks and films. I am working on a course where I am going to explore the color theory of Disney...very excited about putting that together.

    Main Street 1975-1978 Slides

Imagineer John Hench had a large influence on the color choices of WDW. He also wanted to choose colors that would respond to the intense Florida sunshine.

    Main Street 1975-1978 Slides

Thought I would share some more Magic Kingdom fond memories with another batch of slides of the mid-1970's. All photoshopped and cleaned up a bit for your viewing pleasure. Notice the Tobacco shop and the wooden indian statue out front. I miss the days of unique shops on Main Street...

    Describing Walt Disney World

A well designed and heavily orchestrated experience conceived on the premise that parents want to equally enjoy a family vacation that their overly marketed and media saturated (middle-class) children have come to expect as part of their rite of passage of growing up in America. All based on...

    Penny Arcade machines

Nice work on the restoration. I would love to play one of those although I'm no Pinball Wizard... I would take one of those in my house over an Xbox any day of the week.

Researching for an Article about WDW French Fries

Hi everyone, I am writing an article about WDW Hamburgers and Fries. For this post I would specifically like to focus on French Fries across property. I'm steering away from Quick Service and more in the sit-down/gourmet direction. So what Fries blew you away on Disney property? What made...

I would love to hear the story from the point of view of the recipient.

Walt's was a Big Hearted Guy...Letter to a Young Fan

I wonder how many CEO's would take the time to respond to a little girl's letter today?

Walt's was a Big Hearted Guy...Letter to a Young Fan

I came across these series of letters from 1964 starting with a little girl who liked Woody Woodpecker wrote to Walt Disney. We all know that Walt Disney didn't create Woody but he knew who did. I'll let you read the results but it really shows that these guys had big hearts...

    Favorite EPCOT area music poll

Have to agree with the Innoventions loop. If we have a hot day and high humidity I play it and sit on my porch and close my eyes....feels like Epcot in summer. I also have fond memories of the Land interior loop. I like guessing all of the songs that used the word "sun" or "moon" in the title.
