How about Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It opens early, wonderful mixture of food and as its a buffet you and your husband can take turns with your son. There's also a nice relaxed bar area just above for drinks and you can take a look around the lodge at the animals too.

Funny you should mention these as they were just featured on a 'WDWradio' podcast. I'd never heard about them before and now twice in 1 week! My little boy loves this sort of thing so we thought we might investigate them on our next trip.

All booked! We have all decided to book 1900 Park Fare. It was tough as Boma is one of our favourite dinners but a character breakfast will be fun on our first day since we don't have park entrance. Just made the ADR :) Thanks again for all your comments

Thanks for your comments everyone! Looks like it's between Boma for the food and 1900 for the characters. There's 7 of us going, so i'll put to the others and let you know the outcome :)

We have 1 last credit to book and want a late buffet breakfast on our first morning. We trying to decide between Cape May Cafe, Boma's, O'hana's and 1900 Park Fare. What would be your favourite choice from the above and why? Thanks

If memory serves me right the opening ceremony starts at 8.45 when the park opens at 9am and last for about 15 mins. I would probably allow for a 9.30 ADR at Kona. You shouldn't have problems getting on the monorail as everyone else will be going the other way.
