Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

My intent was not to be insulting, but in a world of so much disinformation, it's important to note that there are many people in many labs in many places working on many projects that are different approaches to covid prevention and treatment. Unfortunately no one can predict how new variants...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

There are at least two different types of vaccines that have been developed - the mRNA model used by Moderna and Pfiser, and also the J&J vaccine. In addition there have been many many tests and studies to try to develop treatments for covid, including monoclonal antibodies, remdesivir...

    Yorkshire County Fish Shop????

Based on the web address, it looks to have been posted on 9/27/2020. I also hate reviews that don't tell you when they were there. Especially with so many changes happening.

Main feature pool refurbishments scheduled at Disney's Contemporary Resort and Fort Wilderness Resort

I think this thread gets to why some people are upset with the "hilton-ization" of Disney hotels. That is, some people feel that whenever a Disney hotel gets renovated, it becomes more generic and thus less special. For many people, the hotel is a destination unto itself, including the pool.

    What's March like?

I've not been there in March recently, but I've been told to basically avoid President's Day through Easter.

Main feature pool refurbishments scheduled at Disney's Contemporary Resort and Fort Wilderness Resort

Why? Many WDW pools are excellent, and many of us need or want time that isn't spent at the Parks.

    WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Depends on how often you go to Disney. If it were a once-in-a-lifetime or once-in-a-decade trip and those offerings are important to you, I wouldn't go. What is the goal for your vacation? If it's fireworks, parades, and characters you want, fireworks are back. Parades are already back at...

Mermaid is not overrated, and is a great fit for Fantasyland... prove me wrong.

As much as I enjoy the ride, by this comparison, it's a failure. People come to AK and Uni for those rides. No one comes to MK for Mermaid.

Mermaid is not overrated, and is a great fit for Fantasyland... prove me wrong.

I love Peter Pan for the sense of flying, and it's amazing what they did with the technology of the time. There's also enormous nostalgia with Peter Pan that isn't necessarily there for Mermaid. But in terms of operations, the low capacity makes it tough.

WDW As The Only Vacation Option: Why?

It's true. When my husband was in the Army and I worked at restaurants and whatnot, we usually went "home" for leave because that's what we could afford. Honestly, the fact that I can spend time on here whining about Disney in the middle of a pandemic that has touched so many people from a...

Mermaid is not overrated, and is a great fit for Fantasyland... prove me wrong.

Which is especially crazy considering that the ride at DCA is just in a building. It's a nice building, but I much prefer the queue at MK. Also I went on it shortly before it opened at DCA and got stuck twice. I think operational issues also soured some people's opinion early on.

Mermaid is not overrated, and is a great fit for Fantasyland... prove me wrong.

I love Mermaid. But I understand the criticism that it cost too much and is sloppy in terms of background. Also some of the AAs do look stoned. But I still love it. I love riding in the clam shell, I love going under the water, I love the music, I love the Kiss the Girl scene, I love Ursula...

WDW As The Only Vacation Option: Why?

It sucks. I'm sorry you've had cruises bumped too. I'm super jealous of everyone I hear about who travels to cool places and whatnot right now, but between our jobs, my cruddy immune system, and virtual schooling, it just hasn't worked out well to travel. On the plus side, I'm gonna have a...

Why is there no merch at WDW

I've also seen articles about the cost of clothes increasing due to demand because there have been shutdowns of factories overseas. Supply is low.

Reservations sold out over a month out!

Unfortunately the window for reservations opens 60 days in advance, and many try early to secure reservations. However, as you get closer and people change plans, I bet there will be some openings if you are flexible. Are you considering restaurants in the hotels or at Disney Springs as well...

Hello I am a DPA anyone else?

I love planning. Too much spontaneousness leaves me with decision paralysis.

'Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!'

Oh I liked the show, but I'm sure it's passed over by many who are more interested in riding rides and 40 minutes for a show seems like something they'd rather not spend their limited AK time on. Why see Nemo when you can stand in line for FOP?
