    Training question???

Last year, before I was running, I did go up there and see the track and it is pretty much an oval, and the only time i remember people on it much was for the breast cancer walk they had one day. but i get pretty bored on tracks like that. Now,the gym, is BEAUTIFUL and the treadmills and...

    Training question???

Thanksgiving week, we will be on a cruise for 8 days. I was on this ship last year and there is a track on the top deck. 11 laps makes a mile. Do you vets think it would do better for me to train by running the track or just getting on the treadmill in the gym on the ship? I know it is just...

Found something interesting in 2010 results for January half

I don't think you are a jerk at all. And yes you are right, I am probably over worried, but it is just that this race and finishing it is so so important to me. I do not mean to ask five zillion questions about pacing, or seem obsessed, but i am really new to all of this- only been running...

    What keeps you motivated?

i agree. when i did a 5k last weekend with a pace of 13.3, that was so amazing to me and just as big a victory as the guy who finished with a 6.5 pace! i think it is all relative depending on where you are in your running journey!

    What did you do?

Do you know of any 5k in or near Birmingham or Tuscaloosa next Saturday? Hubby and I are staying in Hoover for the Bama game and will get there Friday. We were thinking of running a race in the morning on Saturday since the game isn't until 5pm.

    What did you do?

Today was my first time running without my husband with me in a LONG TIME. He was at a meeting and I didn't want to skip, so off I went. I did 3.2 miles and it felt very good. NO WALK BREAKS- which was a big victory for me!

How do the majority run the Disney half marathons?

Love reading all of these replies! It makes me feel a bit less intimidated knowing that even the vets will walk a little bit in a long race. My goal, since I have never done a half before, is to FINISH! I can run about four miles without a walk break, but for a distance like that, I will be...

    What keeps you motivated?

I'm sure many would call what I do jogging, but to me, I run. What motivates me? Knowing that every step is another step towards good health and longevity and away from poor health and obesity. I couldn't care less how people clasify my runs, or how many stares I might get from the big...

Tips and Suggestions for a Running Beginner

Congrats on making the decision to get started! I can tell you that in January of 2009, I was 325 pounds and MISERABLE. I am almost six feet tall, and was fooling myself into thinking I was "just a big girl" I started off six weeks after my surgery walking one lap around the track at the...

    January 5K theme

According to the info on the runDisney site, there are no strollers allowed on the course for any of the races. My kids are running this one the day before Hubby and I do the half. The theme sounds fun for sure!

Found something interesting in 2010 results for January half

As you all know, I am the one OBSESSED with making sure I do not get swept during the half in January. I know a lady who did the race last year and was looking up her times online and noticed something interesting. The results page showed the last finisher coming in with a chip time of...

Inaugural 2010 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Race Report

We are planning to do a 10k in November for the Senior Bowl, so maybe I will do well enough to have a time that keeps me out of the very last group. I think that would give me a little head start on the time thing wouldn't it? How many miles were in between water stations and was it water or...

Inaugural 2010 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Race Report

First off, let me just say ROLL TIDE! (sorry, had to do that) I actually went to Tulane, but grew up a Bama fan thanks to my Grandpa and MY school really didn't have a football team! :ROFLOL: Secondly, I am just so impressed. I LOVED reading this report and seeing the photos. WOW, 12,000...
