Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

Catching up on this thread, so forgive me if I repeat what others have said... When I first saw the news, I thought, "This will be great for the people who already know the tricks and don't really need any more help, and it will come at the expense of people who don't "get" Disney before they...

    Tiana’s Bayou Adventure SPOILER Thread

Rode yesterday, and had been avoiding the threads, but now we are wondering if there is a script posted somewhere? On the 2nd ride, I heard Mama Odie say something about returning us to our proper size, and I asked my Dad, "When did we get shrunk?" So wondering what else we missed.

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I am behind on this thread, but as the discussion is getting into areas where I think this is all heading, and we're heading to the MK soon for D23 Tiana event... This is getting at the crux of the issue, IMO. How much of an attraction's capacity should be allocated to DAS guests before it's...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

I am here now. Went to AK on Thursday, got to the park around 2:30, and as usual, we were fish swimming upstream. After we watched the 3:00 LK Show, the park emptied out. Kilimanjaro Safaris was maybe 20 minutes. Great safari due to the 2 Eland and 2 giraffes who decided to camp out in...

The Dollar vs the Euro is not that far off from what it was from 2015-2020. .85-.91 vs .93 (now). The dollar does not have the same strength against the Euro, as compared to something like the Japanese Yen, which is so weak it's like everything is a 30% discount.

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

People who are doing Europe are often using miles / points for the flights. Since we got the Chase Sapphire card we have used points for flights to Hong Kong, Tokyo twice and Paris. Hotels, food, attractions are cheaper if you put in a fraction of what it takes to figure out how to do WDW cheap...

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

It’s interesting what time and changing expectations does to people. There was a reason the Disneyland $99 SoCal Annual Pass was called the “baby sitter pass,” back in the day. The once inside the park, 7 year old rule has been around for decades. Gen X kids are quite familiar with being 7, 8...

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I keep wanting to mention this to you... A friend is dealing with the not being approved for DAS, after having purchased an AP for WDW, was told that they can prorate refunds for APs. It's based on the number of days you have used the pass. So it might be worth a call to Disneyland to find out...

News Test Track to be reimagined

I think I rode 2.0 twice! I rode 1.0 3 times on our honeymoon, starting the 3rd day of operations in December 1998. So that tells you what we thought about 2.0. And I am eager to see what happens with 3.0. Especially with Moth's new hint!

    Inside Out 2

Glad Inside Out 2 did so well. We saw it courtesy of a D23 preview on Tuesday and really enjoyed it. But what timeline are we in, that Soul would have done well in theaters in Nov or December *2020?* It wasn’t on Disney+ because execs thought streaming had arrived. Wonder Woman 1984’s box...

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

It’s just math. Theoretically, if there are fewer people in LL then more people can be taken from the standby line. 80/20 ratios can be maintained and not switched to 1 standby party per 100 LL. It’s an implicit acknowledgment that not everyone currently in the LL will transition to standby or...

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

The difference might be that during that time, the larger Disney disability community still believed that Disney was among the most accessible places they could visit. The complaints were a subset of the population. These changes seem to have a lot more people asking themselves if a Disney theme...

    The passing of Al Lutz

Wow. Truly the end of an era. My Disney online experience began in September 1996, when I returned from a family trip from Disneyland and my now DH said, "so there is this place I found on the internet called alt.disney.disneyland..." Which lead to rec.arts.disney.parks, and places like the...

News Driving Force Behind Disney's Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Leaves WDI for Gensler, Joining Former Chief Bob Weis

I suspect that park & resort operations have put their fingers on the scales. They don't want the ongoing maintenance costs associated with bells & whistles. It also requires labor that isn't available. Everything has to be simple to maintain and easy to replace.

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

From what I heard from my attraction host friend... it's typical Disney being typical. Their attraction has, in general, good managers so they were explained all the options and how to work with guests. In talking with hosts that work elsewhere, their managers aren't telling them much at all.
