Lol there’s nothing offensive about three Caballeros. The whole point of the movie‘s existence was to increase relations with Mexico and it had it’s premier in Mexico City and was quite popular.

Bad argument. That’s like saying we shouldn’t criticize Stitch’s Great Escape because the system stayed Identical to Alien Encounter. The sensory overload was still there but the theme was worse, much worse.

I wonder what these people would say if you showed them that people from the very same countires represented in IaSW were at the opening dressed in these “offensive costumes” willingly to represent their cultures. Their heads might explode.

    Yeah, it was really weird.

Ah, yes. It’s a Small World. A ride with a message about peace and racial harmony is now considered racist because of clothes. When does this madness stop?

Last time I watched Impressions de France, the cast member host before the show told the audience to “try and not to fall asleep.” No joke. Quite weird hearing a cast member say that.

While I’m firmly on the side of keeping Splash, I always have to laugh when people call things like this communism. Communism is when the government controls the means of production and there’s no private property. Things like this have nothing to do with any of that. 😆

For once in this thread, I agree with you. A private company that is communist is a huge oxymoron.

Funny how it wasn’t a problem until two weeks ago. I don’t recall anybody in the past 20 years say it was a problem. Even in this 2009 thread discussing this same exact thing... https://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/princess-and-the-frog-splash-mountain.527644/#post-3887594

That’s my issue as well. This isn’t close to the first time Disney has destroyed something iconic. Won’t be the last.

Agree with that, but you have to admit the timing of the announcement and the fact it’s being re-themed to exactly what the these people wanted is a massive coincidence.

Ha! That is gold! I bet every person calling us racist on that twitter thread wasn’t even thinking about Splash’s toubled history a month ago and loved the attraction.

Why would he? Hasn’t he been one of the biggest supporters of trying to get Disney to fix it? I thought he had a quote saying he’ll get it fixed “if it’s the last thing I do” ?

Of course they won’t. Disney (like most companies) never cares about their fans opinions. That much has been evident since 2006 or so when IP started going into Epcot. Fans didn’t like it, but the lowest common denominator did, so it’s all well and dandy.

This isn’t just about the politics of the situation, at least for me. I said “enough is enough” when they ended IllumiNations. For me, this is about ending yet another iconic Disney experience. I even think TTA is iconic. For as simple as TTA is, I would be devastated if that was taken out more...

This is something I’m hoping for. They claim they’re losing tons and tons of money, yet found a place in their budget for this? I can totally see this being something just to pacify the crowd and have it quietly canceled when the budget doesn’t allow it. That could just be my wishful thinking...

Agreed. This sets a very dangerous precedent for current management. What’s next? Haunted Mansion, Small World? If you would’ve told me ten years ago that SM has any chance of ever being replaced, I would’ve called you out of your mind.

I learned about the connection decades ago and know pretty much everything about it, since it’s my favorite ride. Even as a very young kid, my parents told me how Splash was based on a movie that Disney won’t release and why they won’t release it. SM itself doesn’t have a single thing to do with...

Give me a break. Nobody was reminded of America’s history of slavery while riding Splash Mountain. and it won’t be an improvement because modern Disney cheaps outs in any way they possibly can. Look at any concept art for any attraction built in the past 15 years, then look at the final product...

It’s kind of ironic how the Oriental Land Company is a better Disney than Disney themselves. The still have the original Haunted Mansion too before the dreadful changes.
